We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kelsey Riggsbee. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Kelsey, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Honestly, there’s no such thing as a “normal” day in our house right now. With three kids three and under, we’re flying by the seat of our pants most of the time. We’re usually up with the sun and busy all day. We are eating, playing, snacking, running around, playing games, hoping for a good nap, and then somehow eating again. It’s a whirlwind, but it’s also such a sweet and amazing season of life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Kelsey, a mom of three little ones and a former kindergarten teacher who now stays home with my kids. I launched Grand Moments Activity Kits as a way to help parents, grandparents, and caregivers connect with the children in their lives without all the prep and stress of figuring out activities on their own. Parenthood pulls us in so many directions, and I wanted to create something that makes it easier to carve out meaningful time together. Each kit is ready to go and designed to spark creativity, play, and connection. Families can focus on enjoying the moment instead of scrambling to plan it.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents taught me the most about work. Growing up I would have easily said my dad, since he was the one in the traditional “work” role with long days, frequent trips, and a successful career. My mom stayed home with us, and at the time I didn’t fully recognize that as work. Now, as a parent myself, I see so clearly that it was. She kept our schedules on track, made sure we had what we needed for school, got us to activities, balanced social time with downtime, and kept everything running smoothly. They both worked in different ways, and together they showed me that no matter what your work looks like, it can be done with dedication and balance.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self not to take life so seriously. Keep the curiosity and wonder of childhood alive, because that spark is something you’ll carry with you—and it’s exactly what I hope to inspire through Grand Moments.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that being real matters most to me. I’ve always believed in staying true to who you are, not trying to fake it until you make it. I think it’s important to embrace your quirks, speak your truths, and not shy away from the things that make you different. Everyone has their own story and their own way of moving through life, and that’s exactly how it should be.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop waiting for the “right” time. It’s so easy to think we’ll travel when the kids are older, or try new things once life feels less busy, or chase dreams when everything lines up perfectly. The truth is, there’s never a perfect time. I’d want to focus on doing more now instead of putting things off for someday.
