Faith Teasley of Wilmington on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Faith Teasley. Check out our conversation below.

Faith, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
That’s an easy answer – the Carolina coast! There’s nothing like sitting on the beach and simply “being”. I could spend forever enjoying the NC beaches! It’s where I retreat to rest and renew my spirit.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Faith Teasley, the founder of the coastal lifestyle brand, Saltwater Collection, and the author of the award-winning coffee table book, Saltwater: Coastal Carolina.

My debut book is an ode and love letter to the North Carolina coast. I spent nearly a decade photographing the Brunswick Islands, Cape Fear, Crystal Coast, Inner Banks and Outer Banks on film with one goal in mind: to create a fine art coffee table book that celebrates our state’s breathtaking coastline. Since its release in 2023, Saltwater: Coastal Carolina has earned accolades from the International Photography Awards (2023) and Analog Spark Awards (2024), and has been featured in major publications including Coastal Living Magazine.

You can find the book, along with our collection of coastal wall art, at www.saltwatercollection.com.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I have been blessed with amazing parents who support every dream I have! They are my biggest cheerleaders.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. Being an artist and entrepreneur requires perseverance, patience, and strong problem-solving skills. The key is to never give up – and to trust that the end result, whether it’s publishing a book or reaching another creative milestone, will be worth every bit of hard work and dedication it takes to get there.

I also live with chronic illness, which means I have to push myself every day to do the work I love. But the truth is, we each have only one life to live – and pursuing your dreams is always a worthy cause.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Making others feel seen and heard, living with intention and finding joy in the everyday.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I believe we are all born to do more than one thing. So far, I’ve been a wedding and portrait photographer, small business owner, artist, author and even a drummer. Who knows what will come next? In the meantime, I love creating beautiful imagery that brings the magic of the Carolina coast to your everyday life.
