We recently had the chance to connect with Wilson Mateo and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Wilson, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
If whenever I can help those people who have no home or food

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
“The relationship that has influenced how I see myself the most is the one I have with myself.
Over time, I’ve realized that what I think, say, and believe about myself matters more than any outside opinion.
Of course, my relationships with family, friends, or a partner have left their mark, but in the end, I’m the one who decides whether those voices push me forward or hold me back.”
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
When my food truck broke down, I was left with more worry than money in my pocket. I didn’t know how I was going to fix it or keep my dream alive. But then something beautiful happened — several of my customers, people who started as strangers, stepped in to help. They offered their support, not just with words but with actions. That day, I learned that my food truck wasn’t just about serving food… it was about building a family in the community.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what really matters to me is supporting my family no matter what, making people feel welcome when they come to my food truck, and giving back to those who have helped me along the way.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who never gave up, worked hard for my dreams, and was always willing to help others. That my food truck wasn’t just a place to eat, but a place where smiles, support, and friendship were always served.
