Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Phillip Phenom of RDU

We recently had the chance to connect with Phillip Phenom and have shared our conversation below.

Phillip, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now, a normal day is waking up and going to the gym for about an hour and a half to two hours. Within this time, I’m getting my calisthenics workout in, plus trying to reach my 10,000 steps for the day, since I’m sitting at my desk for the most part.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Phillip Phenom, a professional speaker and founder of PSA Branding which is a platform designed to help students and young professionals turn their skills, experiences, and stories into opportunities.

At PSA Branding, we believe that your personal brand is more than a résumé; it’s the reputation you build, the value you deliver, and the way you show up online and in person.

My passion comes from my own journey: using personal branding to transition from collegiate athlete to professional speaker, author, and educator. I’ve seen firsthand how a clear, authentic brand can open doors long before you “feel ready.”

Right now, we’re expanding our platform to make personal branding accessible to every student, because we believe opportunities shouldn’t be left to chance; they should be created.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
It’s more than a moment, it’s multiple experiences. I love traveling, and every time I leave the country, it shapes how I see the world. I’ve traveled to about 13-15 countries, and it broadens my horizon each time.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
The quote that most people have heard but failing forward. If I’m not failing hard, that means I’m not trying hard enough. The only way to win at a high level is that you have to go through those periods of failures.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes and no. It’s the real me in the sense that I’m very authentic and truthful. However, my personality comes out of its shell more when I’m with friends and family.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
I will never regret taking action on my ideas. My ideas are the most valuable thing I own. I’m proud of the execution that I’ve had over the years from my ideas because they have allowed me to reach the success I currently have in life.
