We recently had the chance to connect with Billie Leigh and have shared our conversation below.
Billie , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I feel like I am being called to “ speak” I have a message for the world I feel it in my soul, I myself am on a journey to healing and I feel like my life and my story will one day help others.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Billie the self proclaimed “Fat Barbie”. I am a small plus size influencer, spreading acceptance and beauty in all sizes. I am also a singer and songwriter but I have been on hiatus from that while I pursue other projects. I love makeup, hair and press on nails and finding stylish clothing for great prices, I do plan to come out with my own merch next year along with working on my soap making business as well.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I have a hurt little girl living within me and as much as that hurt has molded me I realize I have to move forward and stop looking back on those hurtful things of my past so I can walk in my purpose. I’m on a journey to turn my pain into purpose and my heartache into triumph.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That we have to be strong enough to pick ourselves up sometimes, we come into this world alone and we must leave it alone, no one can be there for you all the time so be prepared to be your own cheerleader sometimes.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My son is my everything, he is who I do it for, I want to create generational wealth for him and set him up for success.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I feel like a lot of people will not respect my journey, people have always wanted me to do things their way. I march to the beat of my own drum and in making the decision to do so I have definitely loved and lost.
