Hi LaToya , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my Entrepeneur journey with candles in 2021 while recovering from an injury, and what started as a creative outlet quickly became something deeper. As I learned about chakras and energy work, I began infusing my candles with Reiki to help people set intentions and find balance. That opened the door for me to step fully into my calling as a Reiki practitioner.
Today, my focus is on energy healing through Reiki as a expand from Something More Candle co, to Something More Collective, a community space for intentional living, alignment, and growth. My candles remain a meaningful part of the work, supporting meditation, journaling, and daily rituals, but Reiki is at the heart of what I do. My journey has been about healing myself first, then creating offerings that allow others to feel safe, supported, and empowered in their own healing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve wrestled with impostor syndrome — questioning if I was “enough” to step into this work or if people would truly value energy healing. Sharing myself visibly on social media was a challenge at first, because it meant being seen in my most authentic, vulnerable form.
On the business side, navigating cash flow and shifting markets has been a real teacher. Balancing the creative, spiritual side of my work with the practical side of sustaining a business hasn’t always been easy. But every challenge has shaped me, reminding me to return to my own practices — Reiki, intention, and alignment — to move through the hard seasons and keep building something rooted in love and purpose.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work centers on energy healing and creating spaces where people feel safe to reconnect with themselves. I’m a Level II Reiki practitioner, and I specialize in guiding clients through intentional healing sessions that support balance, clarity, and emotional release. Through The Collective, I’m building a community that makes energy work and spiritual alignment more approachable — not just something you experience once, but something you can weave into your everyday life.
I’m also known for my Reiki-infused candles, which started my journey. They’ve become tools for meditation, journaling, and rituals of self-care — and I love that they allow people to bring energy work into their homes.
What I’m most proud of is staying authentic in my path, even when it’s been hard. I’ve built my business from a place of healing and intention, not just sales, and I think that’s what sets me apart. My focus is not only on providing a service or product, but on holding space for transformation and reminding people that they can reset, realign, and ignite their own intentions.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
That I love to read tarot, but I was nervous to add it to my business so for a while I only read for family and friends. It is one of my favorite offerings and I love growing that part of my intuition.
Also most people see the polished brand and the candles or Reiki sessions, but they may not realize how much of this began as me learning how to heal myself and rebuild piece by piece. This work saved my life and honestly continues to do so. I was not always comfortable putting myself in the equation let alone putting myself first. This journey from broken to self-love and healing is why I’m so passionate about the work I do now — because I know what it feels like to question yourself, to have setbacks, and still choose to realign and grow.
