An Inspired Chat with Jasmine Janea Fleming

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jasmine Janea Fleming. Check out our conversation below.

Jasmine Janea, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I feel that I’m being called to truly own my impact out loud. Before in my journey I would choose to be the glue in the background of most communities + companies I worked for. It was more comfortable for me to be great behind the scenes. I had that all too common fear of shining too brightly (whatever that means lol).

But what I understand now is that when you are a leader it is your JOB to light the way. It is typically the brightest beacon that allows sailors + swimmers to arrive safely to the shore. When people are out on choppy waters they are EXCITED to see that light, because it’s a sign that they are soon to reach their destination safely.

So I’d like for all who read this to remember that the right people are grateful when you show up + own your impact because it gives them confidence that they are in the right hands + your example is proof that their personal voyage is possible.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I’m Jasmine Janea Fleming + I am a Calm Success Coach for ambitious career women. I am also the Editor in Chief of a Premier Wellness editorial titled Calm Queen.

What I love about my work is helping high achieving women win with their wellness in tact. It is often in seasons of uncertainty where many ambitious women are under supported + taught to shut down, self abandon, + disassociate from their own consciousness just to “get to the goal.”

Sadly that approach stems from an archaic stigma that self abandonment + high stress resilience tactics are the standard of success. But we live in a time now where people are waking up to the power of wellness + I’m here to show women how to prosper through uncertain times with both their peace + power in tact.

Most don’t know that Harvard Business Review reported that “1 in 3 high achieving women experience anxiety or depression due to chronic stress + overachievement.” This typically comes from the habit of not prioritizing emotional wellness (because it’s assumed that it isn’t as important in getting results). But it’s quite the contrary.

I help women beat the odds by aligning them with better statistics like “leaders with strong EI (emotional intelligence) produce 15-20% higher profitability + productivity” ~ Harvard Business Review.

I have personally went from being hospitalized by high work stress to having sustainable success using my own signature resilience strategies to sustain my mental wellbeing in uncertain times. Now I gladly share my strategies with women around the world (65 countries + 6 continents to be exact). My methods have been used by women working in Hollywood’s halls to women working in high powered board rooms + they’ve learned to prioritize their peace so that they can prosper inside + outside of their career.

Ambitious women deserve to feel ALIVE as they achieve, not constantly uncertain + anxious.
And this happens when we start to see our self care as success too!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
What only my closest friends + family know is that I come from a deep line of entrepreneurs, educators, + entertainers + I’ve found that my work combines each of these with great importance.

My father got me hooked on shows like The Profit (now The Fixer) + Shark Tank at a young age + would give me biz lessons when I first started out as an entrepreneur. He has always been my professional pillar + till this day we bond over biz talk + our big dreams.

My mother was a passionate educator + held both Founder + Director positions in the education system. I do believe that I get my people skills, precision, + all around passion for teaching from her.

What my sister + I have learned from both of our parents is how to lead. We got to learn the power of community building + staying true to your authentic identity at a young age when we would perform on stage or assist our parents in ministry. And we found that the most rewarding part of it all wasn’t being placed on a platform but, getting to help others see their own superpowers in the process. Work is rarely about what you get to do, it’s about who you get to impact + how they feel about themselves at the end of the interaction.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are not too deep or too vocal. I love your voice + it has healed thousands.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. This is one of my deepest held values. I could have easily racked up new deals, contracts, + opportunities by now by being inauthentic. But portraying a false self for a sale or status, is just not my style. I’d rather lose a deal than lose myself.

When successful people mention loses they often refer to falling short of a goal. But we rarely talk about the times when you may lose out on an opportunity simply because you won’t cower to conformity.

So if you’re feeling down on yourself because you chose authentic expression over ambition, be encouraged that one day someone will have a need that only YOUR presence can fill + those moments are priceless! Integrity is your asset.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
It may sound silly but I truly feel at peace when I’m facing my life not running away from it.
I like being present + feeling everything (like a nice breeze, rainy days, sunny days, all of my emotions, etc) because I remember a time when I couldn’t feel anything around me as I was battling both anxiety + depression.

I’m thankful for Pixar movies like SOUL because it does a great job of reminding us that it’s okay to be good at living (or jazzing as they say).

Funny thing is I always felt like that was me at a young age. A girl so swept up in the wonders of life, dancing in stores + putting smiles on people’s faces, doing things out of the norm because society’s definition of the norm felt so restrictive. I know people probably thought I was being a frivolous unfocused young girl, but I think when you’re young you just truly know how important it is to stay connected to life. And now I honor that young wisdom I had + I truly have learned to relax with life + every day with my work I get to remind other women to do the same. It’s truly an honor.
