Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Gracie Smith of Raleigh

We recently had the chance to connect with Gracie Smith and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Gracie , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Penny and Sabrina, my cats, scored a partnership with Purina One this week and I am so proud of them.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I started writing my own recipes back in 2017 because I wanted a way to keep them organized and realized I liked blogging so I started an instagram and twitter to share my recipes. When TikTok came around I started making videos about my day and quickly grew to 10k followers.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was a couple years ago around Christmas. I had made enough blog money that year to completely pack the Christmas tree for my family. As a housewife, having a side hustle like a blog to earn “fun money” as I call it is amazing.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell her to never listen to the nay-sayers. You will be a blogger and you will be successful no matter what anyone tells you. Just stick it out and everything will work out in the end.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
I believe that if you put good out into the world, good will come back to you. Every day there are little chances to do the right thing. I believe when you do that, something good will always find you.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
I have to admit, I was a little scared to start my daily vlogs. I saw all the other bloggers making them and thought, “My day isn’t that interesting. I don’t want to post myself in a swimsuit for the world to see. Why would anyone care what I’m doing?” But because of these vlogs, I have gained more followers and it gives me another outlet to be creative. I might not think my Target grocery haul is interesting, but someone else might. I love making vlogs showcasing a store’s newest holiday decorations and my viewers seem to like it too.
