Tiffany Ansick’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Tiffany Ansick and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is to wake up, go to the gym early in the morning, and when i say early… people think, 6,7… no i go at 4 am. I have to get my teenager ready for school to and feed my family before we all leave for work. I come home by 6 am and make breakfast to send with them as they had to school and work. Then I get myself ready! I typically go to work from 10:00a to 5:00pm Then come home and make dinner for my family, or plan to go out, or whatever everyone is feeling come 6:30 when dinner time is.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Tiffany of Hair at Tiffany’s, formally MysTink Hair Designs (the last time i was interviewed). I have since rebranded. I had gone through a ton of adversity and needed a rebrand so my friend kept saying you should do something to pay homage to the movie. So I came out with Hair at Tiffany’s. I wanted something that was vintage yet modern to me. It set me up in the stars and far enough apart from the others. It also makes me feel relevant to a few different age brackets.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband is someone who has always seen my potential. He’s one who’s always pushed me to do what I want, when I want and to do it with grace and confidence. He’s always seen what I could do even through adversity, and through cloudier times. In recent times I did just that. I was powerful and stood up for what I believed in, and stayed professional and true to who I am and just kept moving and he was blow away. I felt proud that I upheld what he had always seen and I saw in myself that I was exactly what he’s always told me that I was.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me that you have to keep fighting. You have to keep educating yourself. You have to keep going even though those around you may not like you and may not have the same energy as you, and may not have the same political views as you, or have the same values, or religious beliefs, or ways you do life, you don’t have to be liked by everyone. It’s taught me to keep standing out alone even if you have to stand alone. I don’t have to fit in to everyone else’s mold. I am able to be my own person and thrive into my own brand and be my own best hair stylist.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
I will NEVER stop believing that being yourself is the best version of yourself. I truly believe that being who you want to be authentically is so powerful. Being your innermost self even with your clients is so relaxing because you don’t have to fake anything, they value your work, they value your efforts, they value more of you as a person than just as a service provider. Being your authentic self has clients wanting to be your friend rather than just your client. It has them wanting to hang out with you beyond the salon. They care about their relationship with you. That is why in your job/career, NEVER stop being yourself. It will sell itself to the right people.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
For years, I was doing what I was told to do. Job after job, never a career, thought I would play the corporate game and keep moving up a ladder somewhere, and realized I am not that person. I am not a corporate puppet. I am much more than that. I can’t keep selling a brand that doesn’t give back to me. I wanted to be around people that gave me LIFE. I wanted to be around people that gave me uncontrollable laughs, Heartfelt hugs, Sincere Thank you’s. I wanted to be around people who would boost my energy higher than I could imagine. I found hair. Hair made me feel my most authentic self. It made me feel empowered every time my clients would look in the mirror and love what they saw. It made my feel empowered every time that my clients would see a change in themselves because I helped deliver that feeling of powerfulness again. I am so glad that i found what I was BORN to do!
