Story & Lesson Highlights with Gracyn Dial of Holly Springs area

Gracyn Dial shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Gracyn, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
If I were looking for a new hairstylist, would I come to myself for services? The short answer is ABSOLUTELY! I believe in quality over quantity, so if that means seeing fewer clients per day than someone else in the area, I’m okay with that. I would rather have the time to craft something that the client will love and that suits them and their needs the best. I take the time to listen. Your lifestyle, preferences, and goals matter. Whether you’re looking for a big transformation or subtle maintenance, I tailor every service to reflect you. I don’t rush through appointments. I focus on precision, from cutting and coloring to finishing touches. It’s not just about looking good when you leave the salon – it’s about having a style that lasts and works for your everyday life. My chair is a no-judgment zone. Whether you’re coming in because you just need some me time or prepping for a big event, I aim to make your experience relaxing, uplifting, and worth looking forward to.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Gracyn, and I am a hair stylist planning to be based in the Holly Springs area. While I’m still early in my professional journey, hair has always been my passion—and my way of helping women express their identity, confidence, and style.
I will finish my training at Central Carolina Community College this December. My focus is creating customized looks that bring out the best in each client, whether it’s subtle highilights, a bold transformation, or a perfectly tailored cut. I believe great hair isn’t one-size-fits-all, but rather it’s personal, refining, and a little bit of artistry.
As I grow in this industry, my goal is to build a space where women not only love their hair, but feel genuinely taken care of. I’m excited to bring fresh perspective, artistry, and heart into every appointment.”

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
That would be my mom! When I was a kid, being artistic wasn’t just encouraged, it was part of everyday life. Mornings weren’t just about cereal or pancakes; sometimes, they were about painting toast. We’d mix food coloring into milk and use brushes to turn slices of bread into little edible masterpieces. Rainbows, smiley faces, weird abstract blobs that we insisted were masterpieces. We would pop them in the toaster, and it was like an art gallery for breakfast. It was messy, silly, but we were encouraged to have fun. Back then, creativity didn’t need a reason. It was just a slice of bread that opened up my love of creating beautiful masterpieces. Even at a young age, my mom was able to see my love for creativity. She encouraged me to seek out something that I loved doing and then find a way to make a career of it.

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
I really miss our high school musical dance parties! We would put on the soundtrack like it was a sacred tradition, and suddenly, we were not just backup dancers in the movies, we were the stars. We didn’t care how ridiculous we looked; we were all in it together (haha), belting the lyrics, and trying (and failing) to nail the choreography, all while videoing ourselves so we could watch it back. It was pure chaos, but the best kind. Whether we were performing for our parents or with friends, it was loud music, bad dance moves, and zero shame. Honestly, life was simpler when the biggest problem was deciding who got to be Gabriella or Sharpey.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
The version of me you see in public is genuinely me. I’m not pretending or putting on some polished version to please anyone; that’s just who I am. I might not show everything all the time (no one really does), but the way I talk, how I carry myself, how I interact, it’s all real. I’ve just learned how to be myself out loud. What you see is someone who’s comfortable enough to let their personality show, even in a crowd. I’m not hiding, and I don’t believe I need to change who I am depending on the room I’m in.  I’ve always been the girl who gets up and puts herself together to tackle whatever the day holds.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m in God’s Word. There’s something about opening the Bible that quiets all the noise around me and inside me. The distractions of this world are replaced with peace. In those moments, I’m reminded of who I am and who He is. Created in His image. His word anchors me, comforts me, corrects me, and reminds me of truth when everything else feels uncertain. Without Jesus, nothing else matters.
