Life & Work with Sequoyah Locklear of Fayetteville Nc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sequoyah Locklear.

Hi Sequoyah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I graduated from Paul Mtichell in 2013 and began my career as a stylist. I have loved creating hairstyles long before that. As a child I would cut my Barbie Dolls hair to give them a new style. I have had the opportunity to participate in fashion shows and absolutely love the high fashion and avant-garde hairstyles that we are able to do for the shows.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. I have experienced highs and lows. My lows include being told that I was not good enough and did not fit in with the salon I was working for. My highs include being invited to participate in hair shows and finally finding a salon that I am comfortable in and appreciates me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a hairstylist who specializes in color, cut , and hair extensions. I pride myself in the ability to build strong relationships with my clients through personalized consultations, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions. I involve myself in continuous learning to stay up to date with industry standards. I am very diverse in my ability to cater to various styles such as bridal, editorial, and experimental.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I give credit to Salon Glow and their team. They have helped to mentor me and mold me into the stylist I am today.
