Taesjah Tucker shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Taesjah, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me right now would be providing my clients with the highest level of care, ensuring their hair needs are met with attention and expertise. After a fulfilling day of service, I take time to recharge and prepare for the next, so I can continue delivering consistency, quality, and dedication to everyone who sits in my chair.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
First and foremost my name is Taesjah Tucker, and I am a licensed natural hair stylist with over seven years of experience. I specialize in locs while prioritizing the long-term health of my clients’ hair. My brand, Lox Hydration Mist, was created out of a passion for providing quality products that support hydration, growth, and overall hair wellness.
What makes my work unique is the balance I bring; it’s not just about styling, but about educating and equipping clients with the tools and knowledge they need to care for their hair beyond the chair. I’m currently focused on expanding my brand while continuing to serve my clients with excellence, making sure every person who sits in my chair leaves feeling confident, cared for, and empowered.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
The world didn’t tell me who I had to be — I’ve always followed my own path and trusted my instincts. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to create, serve, and build something meaningful on my own terms. That mindset has guided my journey as a stylist and entrepreneur, shaping the way I care for my clients, develop my brand, and approach every opportunity with authenticity, passion, and purpose.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind word to myself, it would be ‘resilient.’ Because no matter the challenges, the hard days, or the doubts, I’ve kept going, grown through it all, and continued building the life and brand I believe in.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is real, but it’s selective , it reflects my goals, my work, and the best of what I want to share. The private me holds the full journey: the lessons, struggles, and growth that truly define who I am.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow? My clients would not have that, lol — they’d probably try to kidnap me just to do their hair!
