Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Clemons.
Hi Matthew, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a seasoned healthcare professional and military veteran with a career spanning over three decades. As a Desert Storm veteran, I began my post-service journey in healthcare as an emergency room nurse, eventually advancing to work in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Driven by a commitment to public service, I joined the United States Public Health Service (USPHS), where I served as Chief Nurse for a Rapid Deployment Team, responding to national health emergencies. I later managed a behavioral health department within the Department of Justice.
After earning my credentials as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I retired from the USPHS and founded Clemons Resiliency & Wellness in 2022. My practice is rooted in a results-oriented approach, combining clinical expertise, military leadership, and compassionate care to support individuals on their journey to emotional and mental wellness.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a relatively smooth journey after facing the pressures of war (as a Desert Storm veteran), spending twenty years supervising nurses, serving as a Chief Nurse for the US Public Health Service rapid disaster response team, and now applying both my knowledge of people and my education as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Clemons Resiliency & Wellness was founded in 2022 in response to the overwhelming need for accessible mental health services. The word *Resiliency* was chosen with intention—I believe that every person has within them the ability to adapt, persevere, and heal, even when faced with life’s toughest challenges. We have three other fabulous clinicians, Reshanna, Adrienne, and Sherrie.
What do we do, and what do we specialize in?
We are a behavioral health organization dedicated to delivering high-quality psychiatric and therapeutic care for individuals across North Carolina. Our team specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, insomnia, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, anger management, and irritability issues. We deliver care through both in-person visits and secure telehealth, ensuring that clients throughout the state can access the support they need.
What sets us apart?
What truly makes us different is our “mom-and-pop” approach to care. We intentionally keep our practice client-centered, treating each person as if they were our only client. Instead of going through a switchboard or automated system, our clients have direct access to their providers. We are highly responsive, and while Clemons Resiliency & Wellness is a business, our clients’ well-being always comes first.
What are we most proud of brand-wise?
We take pride in the results we help our clients achieve. It is profoundly rewarding to witness meaningful life changes—whether that’s improved mood, enhanced focus, restored relationships, or the ability to manage daily challenges—knowing that our care and persistence contributed to their growth.
What do we want readers to know about our brand and services?
We are based in the Triangle, but our telehealth services extend across North Carolina, allowing us to reach clients wherever they are. From Wilmington to Charlotte to the Mountains, we are proud to support individuals throughout the state with accessible, high-quality behavioral health care. At Clemons Resiliency & Wellness, our mission is simple: to walk alongside our clients with empathy, clinical expertise, and a steadfast belief in their ability to “be resilient.”
What matters most to you? Why?
At Clemons Resiliency & Wellness, we believe in doing right by our clients and always seeing the humanity in people. This principle guides everything we do—because recognizing and honoring the humanity of others is the foundation of a civil society. In the business of serving people, their dignity and well-being must always come first.
