Story & Lesson Highlights with Tanya Nagpal of Cary

We recently had the chance to connect with Tanya Nagpal and have shared our conversation below.

Tanya, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Outside of work, I love teaching classes on personal development and spirituality. I am a certified spiritual and a personal development coach, and by practicing the laws and principles every day, my life has completely transformed. I am now on a mission to help people who are struggling in life by guiding them to achieve their goals through the power of their mindset.
I truly believe that everything is possible.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Tanya Nagpal, a professional artist and the founder of Painters Garden, a creative studio filled with positive energy and inspiration. What makes Painters Garden special is its inclusive and meditative approach. We offer relaxing, mindful art classes for kids, adults, seniors and children with special needs, including those with autism. It’s a space to pause, focus and truly connect with creativity.
Alongside teaching, I sell my artwork worldwide. I believe handmade art is very important, each piece carries emotions, love and the unique touch of the artist. Handmade art not only adds beauty and positive energy to your space but also serves as status symbol and lasting investment. My vision is to grow Painters Garden into a recognized brand and open branches, so more people can experience the joy and value of art.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I would say my mom saw the clear talent in me before I could see it in myself. Since the age of four, I loved coloring and painting, and my mom recognized my passion early on. She started sending me to professional artists for training and encouraged me to participate in competitions. As I grew older, I decided to become an artist, and I truly want to give credit to my mom, who has always supported me from the very beginning.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I believe artists are very emotional and I am no exception. There were times when people tried to put my work down, questioned my talent and reminded me how difficult it is to run a business alone. Many even said that there are countless artists in this world who struggle, which added to the pressure and stress. All of this once made me feel like giving up. But then I had a big breakthrough, I lifted myself up, chose to believe in my talent and creativity, and today I stand as a successful artist.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the art industry tells itself is that art is only valuable if it comes from a big name or is represented by a gallery. True art holds energy, emotions and meaning, no matter who creates it. Another lie is that artists can’t make a living from their passion, people say art is just a hobby, not a career. I also believe the industry often creates the illusion that art must “fit trends” to sell, when in reality, authentic and soulful work connects with people far more deeply. Art is not just a decoration- its expression, healing and an investment.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I want people to remember me as a kind, loving and compassionate soul, someone who brought light, creativity and positive energy into the world. I want them to talk about my passion for art, how I started from zero and built something meaningful with pure dedication and faith.
I hope people remember how I used my mindset to create not only my career but also a beautiful life filled with purpose, love and abundance. I want them to see me as someone who helped others believe in themselves, who reminded people that everything is possible when you connect with your true self.
