Story & Lesson Highlights with Melinda Harkley

Melinda Harkley shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Melinda, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me consists of prayer after waking up to start my day, Scheduling daily posts for clients, responding to clients calls, texts or emails for both businesses. I do try to walk at least 30 minutes per day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Melinda, your Business Support Buddy with Prestigious Business Concierge. I offer various administrative services as a virtual assistant and social media management services to increase brand visibility and help grow your business.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
In July 2019, I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer . Exactly Six months later (January 2020), I lost my sister to metastatic breast cancer. Then in 2022, my Brother passed unexpectedly. Experiencing these losses greatly impacted my views of Life, The World and Relationships. However, My Faith in God never wavered. Focusing on my businesses, although difficult at the time, helped me through the grieving process and continues to help me to keep moving forward with my life.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes! There has been several times I’ve wanted to give up on my Dreams and Businesses. Being an entrepreneur or business owner is not for the faint at heart. There are highs and lows in business and anything we wish to achieve in life. It takes Faith and Tenacity to persevere. Consistency is Key. It’s not easy, however, for me it’s worth it.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. I believe in Authenticity. I am who I am. I strive to learn from others. However, I don’t compete or try to become anyone else. We’re all uniquely designed by the Master for a purpose. Self acceptance and self love is what I’ve embraced. I strive to become the best version of myself and show up in the world Authentically.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope they say she was a Woman of Faith that Loved God and others. I hope they say she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sibling, cousin, and friend! She put God first, Family (and close friends) second, and business/career third. Lastly, I’d love to impact people’s lives in the best way possible and for my name to be mentioned in their testimony for helping them navigate their life journey and leading them to their Creator (GOD)
