An Inspired Chat with Tracey Massey of Charlotte

Tracey Massey shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Tracey, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day differs during the week versus the weekend. During the week, I get up at 4 AM. When I wake up the day starts with prayer and journaling. I then drink a bottle of water and get ready to head to the gym at 5 AM. On the weekends, it’s the same wake up time (my internal alarm is used to waking me up at 4 AM no matter what). On the weekends, I spend a little longer in prayer and journaling. I turn on my worship playlist and study. This is my quiet time and it allows me to enjoy the slowness of the weekend.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Tracey Massey. I am a Certified Grief Coach, Podcast Host, and Founder of Living My EmPOWERed Life. My mission is to help women who are navigating grief and major life transitions find hope, healing, and joy again. I believe that even in the most difficult seasons, life can be full, purposeful, and fun. I’m here to show women how to live that truth every single day.

Through Living My EmPOWERed Life, I focus on five core pillars: Ministry & Community, Mental Health, Lifestyle, Travel, and my personal Journey to 50. All of which are designed to help women grow spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.

I also host The Charging Station Podcast, where I share encouragement, empowerment, and practical strategies to help listeners “recharge” and live life on purpose.

Most recently, I launched Graced & Grounded Journeys, a travel brand that creates unforgettable experiences like retreats and group trips including my upcoming Fall 2026 Soulful Escape to Thailand Retreat. These journeys are crafted to help women step out of their routines, rediscover themselves, and connect with like-minded travelers in a safe and supportive environment.

What makes my work unique is that it’s deeply personal. I bring my own story of loss, faith, and transformation into everything I do. My coaching, podcast, and retreats are built around helping women reclaim their power, rediscover their voice, and embrace wholeness without sacrificing joy, fun, or adventure.

If there’s one thing I want people to know, it’s this: you can live whole, healed, and empowered and I’d love to walk that journey with you.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mentor and Pastor Dr. Elizabeth P. Threatt is who I believe saw me clearly before I could see myself. She never lets me shrink. Anytime I mention an idea or a dream, first thing she says is “Go for it”. I love our bond because we can talk about deep things or just be down right silly. I can trust her with my heart and I pray that I am as good to her as she is to me.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
After the loss of my daughter, I wanted to give up. She was the main reason I pushed through many things. When she died, I didn’t know who I was and had no idea of how to live life without her. In many ways today, she is my fuel to keep going.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say that leaving a legacy of faith, hope, and empowerment for everyone I touch matters to me the most. I think they would say I was determined to not let life beat me and that I lived full.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
I think I would regret not living abroad if I didn’t do it. I’ve had a strong desire to have my own eat, pray, love kind of life for a while.
