Today we’d like to introduce you to Aleida Heinz, PhD.
Hi Aleida , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
With a 4th of July birthday, a vibrant Brazilian upbringing in Rio de Janeiro, and both German and Hispanic heritage, my story is a rich blend of cultures, rhythms, and identity. This multicultural background has profoundly shaped my worldview, deepening my appreciation for diversity and infusing my work with cultural sensitivity and insight. I completed the majority of my higher education in the United States, where I now reside as an American citizen. Beyond my academic and professional life, I’m a passionate wife, a proud mother of three grown children, one living in Germany, another in Spain, and another in the US—and a devoted dog mother too.
Today, I’m a senior clinical sexologist and a relationship expert with a PhD in Human Sexuality, a Master’s degree in Sexology and Relationships, and a BS in Family Science and Psychology. Since 1998, I have been dedicated to helping individuals and couples build healthier, more fulfilling connections. With over two decades of experience, a background in psychology, and extensive qualifications, I’m proud to specialize in both couples and sex counseling, in my private practice in English and Spanish, online and in-person. This unique combination allows me to fully understand the complexities of intimacy and the interaction between love and desire in long-term relationships.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Depending on the concept and interpretation of “smooth road”. I think all careers have challenges. Depending on our effort, discipline, and commitment, the road is as smooth as a German highway or as rough as a horrible dust road.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
For many years, I was invited to numerous radio and television shows in Caracas, Venezuela, and the USA, as well as private events. I was a co-host on the TV show “The Specialist” in Charlotte, NC, and have written numerous articles and columns for magazines, including Eligible Magazine, on topics related to healthy sexuality. Additionally, I am the author of the book Make Love 365 Times a Year: 7 Sex Secrets for a Passionate Love Life, released in 2020, which offers practical advice for maintaining a passionate relationship. Co-authored The In-Factor Model: How the Internet Leads to Infidelity, and The 7 Erotic Languages: The Missing Link in Relationships. I am proud to announce the coming release of my third book, which explains what desire really is.
As an author, I spread my knowledge and experience, promoting awareness on diverse topics related to sexuality and relationships. My mission is to strengthen relational bonds across demographics, including young couples, married couples, cross-cultural and multi-cultural couples, polyamorous relationships, mature couples in their 60s plus, and individuals from various cultural backgrounds. By employing an inclusive approach and leveraging a deep understanding of human sexuality and relationships, I empower people to cultivate healthier and more fulfilling connections. I guide individuals and couples on their journey toward stronger intimate and sexual bonds, unraveling the complexities of desire along the way.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Curious, daring, fun, spontaneous, extremely active, and talkative. I loved the piano, classical ballet, and horseback riding.
