Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Perry.
Hi Daniel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our journey began at a crossroads.
Daniel, the owner, was unexpectedly fired from a previous pest control company for refusing to sign a non-compete agreement. This agreement would have made him unable to work in the pest control industry for at least five years.
With a wife and two small children relying on him, he knew he had two choices: submit to unfair demands or forge his own path. He chose the latter.
Despite the adversity, he took a leap of faith and started his own pest control company. Driven by a passion for helping people and a determination to provide for his family.
What seemed like a setback became the foundation of something greater.
Today, our family is proud to offer expert, reliable pest control solutions, and we are committed to serving your family and protecting your home.
At Dominion Pest Control LLC., we believe that the “multi-generational family” is the foundation of all establishments created by God. That’s why we understand how important it is to preserve the environment and its resources for the next generation.
We believe that while we have ‘dominion’ over our environment, we also have a responsibility to take care of it and not destroy it in the process.
Our company values the importance of safety and the well-being of our clients which is why we have a licensed professional to directly handle your pest problems.
This company was started because we want to deliver a pest control experience that does not cut corners but rather creates practices that are personal, effective, and safe.
We aim to set ourselves apart by being a link in the chain of change within the pest control community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes and no.
There was a lot of uncertainty in the beginning. I was unsure if I made the right decision by starting my own business.
In order to start a pest control company you have to be approved by the Department of Agriculture and pass a very challenging exam in order to acquire a Pesticide Applicators License.
It took many hours and late nights of studying but I was able to pass the test after the first attempt (which they told me was extremely rare).
After completing that hurdle there was another challenge in front of me. Acquiring customers.
Initially I was knocking doors every day trying to get the word out. Sometimes 200-300 doors a day with little to no success.
But eventually the hard work paid off and the calls starting coming in. This summer we had more calls than we could handle, which is a blessing.
The road is still bumpy sometimes but it definitely seems a lot smoother now.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Dominion Pest Control LLC., we are dedicated to providing environmentally friendly pest control services to the state of North Carolina.
You may ask: What does it mean to be “environmentally friendly”?
Although we don’t want to use pesticides, they are necessary to protect us from pests that can cause and spread diseases that pose serious risks to public health.
Our unique approach to pest control involves knowing when (and when not to) apply pesticides in order to prioritize safety and the protection of our environment.
We also understand an environment is not only limited to ‘the great outdoors’, but also includes your home, and your backyard. The word “environment” in its most basic meaning is “that which surrounds”.
In order to protect your environment from unwanted pests we only use EPA approved products and follow our ‘interior – liquid last approach’ to ensure the safety of your children and pets. If we determine that an interior treatment must be performed, we limit all applications to specific target areas in order to avoid any possible exposure to you or your family.
We believe that while we have ‘dominion’ over our environment, we also have a responsibility to take care of it and not destroy it in the process.
We use all our products on our own property where we not only have young children but also raise several animals including: dogs, cats, goats, pigs, chickens and honey bees! We also aim to promote and protect other beneficial insects such as butterflies and fireflies.
So you can rest assured that all our treatments are completely safe for your family and your pets!
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Living a life that is pleasing to God.
He has blessed me with a beautiful family.
I aim to show my children the value and importance of God’s creation and how to be good stewards to protect and preserve our environment for future generations.
