Today we’d like to introduce you to Jem Lundy.
Hi Jem, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Time-In Moms started from my own experience as a mom who just needed a break. There were days when I felt completely overwhelmed—trying to care for my kids, keep up with the house, and somehow still show up for myself. I kept thinking, what if moms could take a “time-in” instead of always being expected to do it all? What if someone could step in for just a little while to help with the things that pile up—like dishes, a meal, or watching the kids—so a mom could breathe again?
That idea became the heart of Time-In Moms. I started it to give moms real, hands-on support through a community of volunteers who understand what it’s like to need help but not know who to ask. In our first two months, we’ve supported nearly 30 moms with more than 2,400 minutes of hands-on help—2,400 minutes of breathing room, relief, and encouragement for women who are so often pouring into everyone else.
We’re still growing, but every week I see how much even a small act of care can mean to a mom who feels unseen—a mom fighting through cancer treatments, a mom of two trying to hold it all together, a single mom juggling work and childcare, or a career-driven mom giving her all both at home and at work. It’s a reminder that motherhood isn’t meant to be done alone—and together, we can make sure it isn’t.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a beautiful but challenging road. The vision behind Time-In Moms is simple—every mom deserves real, practical support—but turning that vision into a movement takes a village. We’ve been building everything from scratch: recruiting volunteers, raising awareness, and trying to meet a level of need that’s far greater than most people realize.
As word has spread, we’ve seen just how deep that need runs. Moms have been reaching out in growing numbers, sharing how much they need a break, a bit of help, or just someone who understands. Requests have come from across North Carolina and the country—far more than one person can meet alone. Right now, most time-ins are still led by me personally, which shows both the urgency and the potential of what’s possible when more people get involved.
Moms everywhere are carrying so much alone. They need a helping hand, an hour of rest, someone who truly sees them. To meet the growing demand, we need more people to come alongside this work—volunteers who can give their time and supporters who believe in investing in protecting the mental wellness of moms and families. With a stronger network and shared commitment, we can reach more moms, one “time-in” at a time.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Time-In Moms was created to support moms in the moments that often go unnoticed—the space between daily overwhelm and crisis. We aren’t a replacement for other forms of care or guidance; we are the missing piece in a mom’s day, providing real, tangible relief when it matters most. Our hands-on support—whether it’s meal prep, light household help, or child care—gives moms a chance to pause, recharge, and feel truly seen.
What sets us apart is how immediate and practical our help is. We meet moms where they are, responding to real needs in real time, complementing the guidance, counseling, or community resources they may already access. Every act of support reminds mothers that they are valued, understood, and supported. Time-In Moms fills that critical gap in the wellness puzzle, creating meaningful relief and connection for mothers right when they need it most.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is making sure moms feel seen, supported, and valued. Motherhood is rewarding, but it’s also exhausting, isolating, and often undervalued. I’ve been there myself—juggling responsibilities, feeling stretched thin, and wishing someone could just step in and help.
Time-In Moms was born from that experience, and what drives me every day is knowing that even small acts of support can have a huge impact. It matters because when moms are cared for, rested, and supported, families thrive, communities grow stronger, and children flourish. Supporting mothers isn’t just compassionate—it’s transformative. I want every mom to know she isn’t alone, and that her well-being matters as much as everyone she cares for.
