Check Out L. Ron Pringle’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to L. Ron Pringle.

Hi L. Ron, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
With over 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, Ron Pringle continues to serve his community at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, speaking on behalf of the underserved, improving their quality of life through transformational programs and services. Raised in South Carolina, Ron received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services from Springfield College in Charleston, SC. He served as an Assistant Chaplain in the U.S. Airforce during Desert Storm, and then returned to the Charleston area and began his career in food banking, coming to the Food Shuttle as President and CEO in May of 2020. Ron is an avid golfer, makes his own furniture, and is a self-taught musician who enjoys spending time with his family.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road for Ron. After losing his mother at a young age, he faced food insecurity himself—a life experience that deeply shaped his perspective and purpose. Those early struggles instilled in him a deep sense of empathy and resilience, fueling his lifelong commitment to ensure others don’t have to experience the same hardships. His personal journey continues to inspire his leadership and dedication to building a hunger-free community.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Ron leads Inter-Faith Food Shuttle with a focus on creating sustainable, community-driven solutions to hunger. He specializes in developing programs that not only provide food but also address the root causes of food insecurity—through education, workforce development, urban agriculture, and nutrition programs that empower individuals and families to thrive.

He is best known for his compassionate leadership and his ability to bring people together around a shared mission of service. Under his direction, the Food Shuttle has expanded its reach and impact, ensuring that more neighbors have access to fresh, healthy food and the resources they need to build stability.

What sets Ron apart is his lived experience and unwavering belief that transformation begins with opportunity. Having once faced food insecurity himself, he leads with both empathy and vision. He’s most proud of helping others find dignity, hope, and a path toward self-sufficiency.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Ron credits much of his success to the people who have supported and inspired him along the way. He is especially grateful for the mentors who believed in his potential early in his career and helped guide his path in food banking and community service. He also recognizes the incredible team at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle—whose dedication, creativity, and compassion make the organization’s mission come to life every day.

Ron often says that meaningful change is never the work of one person alone. From board members and community partners to volunteers and staff, he values the collective effort that drives the Food Shuttle’s impact. Their shared commitment to service and innovation continues to motivate him and strengthen the organization’s reach across the community.
