Life & Work with Maurice Robinson of Fayetteville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maurice Robinson.

Hi Maurice, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Yuma, Arizona, but I moved up and down the East Coast for most of my childhood before finally settling in Houston, Texas. Every city taught me something different about people, culture, and struggle—and those lessons became the foundation of my music. I started writing raps in 2004 as a way to express what I was seeing and feeling. By 2016, I released my breakout single Love Hate Thing, which introduced my story to the world and showed that it’s okay to be imperfect and real.

Since then, I’ve founded Empier Entertainment, toured nationally, and performed alongside artists like YG and 2 Chainz. My journey hasn’t been easy—losing family members and navigating personal challenges have shaped who I am both as an artist and as a man. Today, I use those experiences to inspire others through music, film, and gaming under the Empier brand. My upcoming project, Between the World and Me, is about self-reflection, faith, and growth—showing that no matter where you start, you can transform your pain into purpose.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth. Coming from a background where stability was rare, I had to learn how to adapt quickly. I’ve faced everything from losing family members to balancing financial pressure while trying to pursue my dreams. There were times I questioned whether it was even worth continuing, but those moments forced me to grow stronger mentally and spiritually.

As an independent artist, building everything from the ground up without major label support has been one of the toughest challenges. Every step—marketing, funding, production—had to come from hard work and persistence. But those struggles shaped my resilience. They taught me how to lead my own label, stay authentic to my sound, and build a brand that represents real people with real stories.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As an artist and founder of Empier Entertainment, I create music that blends storytelling, vulnerability, and purpose. My work centers on the idea that imperfection is power. Through hip-hop, I channel real-life experiences—pain, growth, and redemption—into art that inspires others to embrace their truth.

What sets me apart is that I build everything independently—from songwriting and production to visuals and marketing. I’m proud to have taken my music from local performances to national tours, sharing stages with artists like YG and 2 Chainz. Beyond music, I’ve expanded into film and gaming through Empier, creating a full creative ecosystem where authenticity drives every project.

My goal is to connect with people on a deeper level—to remind them that no matter what they’ve been through, they can turn their story into strength. That’s the heartbeat of my art and my brand.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Looking ahead, I’m releasing a compilation album that brings together my top songs from 2023 to 2025—each one representing a different chapter of my growth as an artist and person. Beyond music, I’m expanding my creative reach by launching my own Esports tournament in Las Vegas in mid-2026, combining my passion for gaming and competition under the Empier brand.

I’m also stepping into film production, currently developing a short film set to release in late 2026. It will explore themes of perseverance, identity, and redemption—ideas that have shaped both my art and my life. My goal is to continue building bridges between music, gaming, and film, creating spaces where creativity and real-life stories can coexist and inspire others.
