Meet Jesse Jewell of Airport area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Jewell.

Hi Jesse, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Our little company consists of two Wilmington natives (Jesse Jewell, and John “corn pone” Krohn) that have been buddies since we met in the 6th grade at DC Virgo middle. Jesse, a third generation carpenter grew up around historic restoration, and apprenticed under his father Patrick at the age of 20. Corn Pone joined the Cape Fear Carpentry team in 2017, and quickly became an integral part of our operation. “CP” became a partner when Patrick retired.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running your own business always comes with some struggles, but we have been fortunate to stay fairly busy. We attribute or food fortune to being an owner operated business. It’s easy to insure that proper care is taken with each job when every worker is heavily invested in the end product.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Here at Cape Fear Carpentry, we provide design and building services. We specialize in interior/exterior door units, custom cabinetry, mill work, and historic replication.
One job that we have recently done that is worth noting is the door and transom on the Willard street fire house. Old school rebuilders hired us to recreate what was there years ago, and it is a beauty.

I think what sets us apart is that we specialize in handmade projects , and we don’t shy away from the complicated or unique

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Corn Pone and Jesse are an open book
