Today we’d like to introduce you to Byron Brown.
Byron, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started photography as a hobby, a shared activity that my ex-wife and I would collaborate on. She was the first person to encourage me to learn the craft and really embrace the business opportunities it could create. When my father passed away in 2021 from COVID, photography really became one of my therapeutic outlets. It also changed how I looked at capturing memories. I didn’t have a lot of pictures with my father and so it became a mission of mine to make sure others did. Since then I’ve had opportunities to photography birthdays, weddings, proms, graduations…everything under the sun! Recently, I started shooting video and I’ve even been approached about doing movies. I thank God for the people who he has put in my life to inspire me and support me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth journey. Putting myself out there to be noticed was always a struggle for me. That meant I’d have to negotiate prices, listen to critiques of my work, market myself, purchase more equipment, all the things that come with being a business owner. While some aspects of my early struggle, were mere reflections of my self confidence, some aspect of being a entrepreneur meant actually learning the business and thinking of it more as profession than hobby. Building clientele for a shy person definitely doesn’t at to a recipe for success, but it was things like this that my family and friends helped me with, and I’m so thankful for them.

B. Moore Photography is all about capturing memories, taking ideas and making them photographic realities. I pride myself on my professionalism, customer experience and providing a quality product. Whether its senior pictures, graduation, new born, family, organizations or groups…big or small…basic or extravagant, I’ll go the extra mile to make sure my clients are happy!
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
When it comes to mentoring and networking, don’t be the smartest guy in the room! There are so many people with ideas and experience that you can grow and learn from. For me, joining artistic groups where like mined professional more experienced photographers interact. Attending conferences. Just being yourself and open to what’s in front of you, there are potential opportunities everywhere. The biggest thing that has worked for me though, is staying out of my comfort zone.
