Meet Kimberly Bynum of South East Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Bynum.

Kimberly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Adorned by Faith is an e-commerce store that began in 2024, during a pivotal season in my life when I connected with two individuals via social media, who later became mentors in various aspects of my life. They helped ignite my faith journey and encouraged me to grow closer to God. At the time, I realized that while I had always been religious and attended church, I didn’t have a personal relationship with God outside of Sunday services. This realization drove me to seek a deeper connection with Him through daily prayer and regular Bible study. As I immersed myself in this newfound relationship, the conversations I had with my mentors sparked creative ideas, which eventually turned into designs that would become the foundation of my business. Adorned by Faith was born from this journey, positioning itself in the Christian marketplace. Looking back, I can truly see how Jeremiah 29:11 was unfolding in my life, guiding me to walk in purpose and build something meaningful.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, but each challenge has been an opportunity for growth. One of the biggest struggles has been overcoming self-doubt. There were moments when I questioned whether I was creative enough or if my business had the potential to succeed. I often wondered if I was truly equipped for the journey, especially with the pressure of creating original designs and maintaining consistency in my brand.
Additionally, balancing my full-time job with the demands of launching and growing a business has been a challenge. It’s required me to be highly organized and manage my time efficiently. There were times when I felt stretched thin, juggling between my responsibilities and keeping up with the vision for Adorned by Faith.
But through all the struggles, I’ve learned to lean into my faith, trust God’s timing, and be patient with the process. Each obstacle has shaped me into a stronger entrepreneur, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see the business grow, even when the path wasn’t always clear.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
During the day, I serve as a Program Manager for a statewide scholarship program, a non-profit I’ve been employed with since June 1997. I’m deeply involved in overseeing the operations, managing staff, and working with educational institutions to ensure that we can provide the necessary support for individuals pursuing higher education. I take pride in being part of something that makes a tangible difference in people’s lives, helping to shape the future of our communities through education.

In my spare time, I’m a serial entrepreneur. I’m the founder of Adorned by Faith, a faith-based lifestyle brand where I design and sell apparel that empowers and uplifts women. Adorned by Faith was born out of my personal faith journey and desire to inspire others to boldly live out their faith. I specialize in creating high-quality, purpose-driven apparel that reflects my customers’ values and helps them express their beliefs confidently.

What I’m most proud of is how Adorned by Faith has resonated with women across the nation, growing into a brand that represents boldness, faith, and authenticity. I’m also proud of how I’ve been able to balance my full-time role with my entrepreneurial ventures, using my organizational and leadership skills to manage both effectively. A unisex line for both men and women is soon to come and I am super excited as this has been a request since launching.

What sets me apart is my deep commitment to my faith and how it influences everything I do, from business decisions to the design and messaging of my products. I believe in creating products that don’t just look good but inspire a sense of purpose and confidence in those who wear them. My approach to business is guided by faith, and I always strive to do everything with excellence, whether it’s a scholarship application or a t-shirt design. My personal journey of growth and transformation has allowed me to connect with others on a deeper level, and that authenticity is what I believe truly sets me apart in both my professional and entrepreneurial endeavors.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice for those just starting out is to find a mentor—someone who has already walked the path you’re interested in. Take full advantage of the time you have with them, whether it’s through paid mentorship or free advice, because it’s an investment in you, your business, and your future. Never stop learning. The journey of growth is continuous, and you should always be seeking new knowledge and ways to improve.

Take action every day that moves you closer to your goals, and don’t be afraid to pivot if things aren’t working out as planned. Change is part of the process. And here’s the thing: don’t waste too much time in self-doubt, thinking that your dream is too far out of reach. Just remember, there’s a brand and a product for everyone. Next time you’re at the grocery store, take a look at the bread aisle. There are so many different brands of bread, each with its own consumer base. If they can all find their place, so can you. So, keep moving forward and trust that your place will come!
