Today we’d like to introduce you to Honoria Santibanez-Chavez.
Hi Honoria, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all began in 2011, when I had the opportunity to work part-time for Billy and Jimmy at Flowers by the Neuse.
At the same time, I started creating decorations on my own for family and friends, and little by little, the word spread. My first arrangements were made with love and dedication right on my kitchen table and in my living room, always dreaming of one day having my own workspace.
With time — and the support of many wonderful people — things started to grow.
When we moved into our own home, I transformed one of the rooms into my floral design studio, where every flower and every detail told a story. Each year brought more events, more clients, and more dreams come true.
In 2015, I decided to take a break from working at the flower shop to spend more time with my young children and focus on my own project, which I called MexFlowers. During those years, I continued decorating events and perfecting my floral art, always holding onto the dream of one day having a flower shop of my own.
And that day finally came.
In 2023, my former bosses — Billy and Jimmy — decided to retire and offered me the opportunity to take over Flowers by the Neuse, the very place where it had all started.
With excitement, gratitude, and a bit of fear, I accepted the challenge. That’s how a new chapter full of growth, learning, and blessings began.
Today, after more than two years leading Flowers by the Neuse, we continue reaching new goals and feel grateful to be part of our clients’ most special celebrations.
I thank God for His guidance, my family for their unconditional support, and every single person who has trusted me and my work.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been easy.
Every step has come with its challenges, but my love for what I do has given me the strength to keep going.
My passion for flowers and for creating something beautiful for every special occasion has helped me overcome every obstacle and continue growing day by day.

I create floral arrangements, event decorations and custom wreaths
I specialize in weddings and quinceañeras, designing unique and personalized floral pieces that capture each client’s story and style.
I’m known for the quality of my designs and for providing outstanding customer service, always giving my very best to make every event special and unforgettable.
I’m proud of myself for overcoming challenges and for continuously learning and improving — both in event design and business management.

The most important lesson I’ve learned on this journey is to strive to improve every single day.
I’ve realized that mistakes and failures also bring valuable lessons, because in the end, you never lose: you either win or you learn.
