Community Highlights: Meet Brianna Lester of Bmar Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Lester.

Hi Brianna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved out at 17 years old, got my GED from a tech school that offered me a full scholarship but I couldn’t afford college; so I went straight to work. I worked odd and end bare min jobs until by the grace of God I got hired by a real estate print advertising company. I worked my way up within that company until I was let go right during the real estate crash of 2008. This was a blessing that forced me to work for myself but also establish a place where no-one else could have control over my future but me. The years that followed taught me survival and hustle that you could never learn in school.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not the least bit. One of the biggest upsets I had to face was when I thought I was moving my business to Georgia; to partner with someone I thought I knew but a week after I got down there, what was being done in the dark, two states away was finally brought to light and it was not good. That was my first lesson in realizing that no matter how much you like someone or you think you know them; you should always question it because sometimes you just don’t know people like you think you do. Then of course the days that I had to landscape will forever be ingrained in my memory, just the shear will to work hard in an environment that may not be what you want forever; is the test of one’s true desire to win or not.

We’ve been impressed with Bmar Media, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Bmar Media is a custom apparel and awards company. We specialize in the apparel, awards and other various promotional items for primarily the equine or equestrian and western sports industry. We also have our own brand of headwear that we carry along with the many many other brands of headwear that are available to the public. One of the things that really sets us apart from the rest is just the selection of things that we are able to do. We are literally a one-stop shop for most all equine related events and businesses.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was kind of a shy kid, very good at being by myself and entertaining myself which made me a target to bullying in my middle and high school years. I also grew up riding horses which labeled me the weird horse girl but I’ve always worked best by myself; not because I wasn’t good at the team-player environment, my sister and I did team sports as kids.; but because crowds of people would cause me anxiety. It’s something I’ve had to work on.
