Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Edwards.
Hi Marie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I joined the US Army after I graduated high school and after I completed my term of service I went to college and then joined the Army National Guard. I became a teacher in 2008 and left the profession in December 2020.
After taking a little break, I decided to start looking for part-time work which would allow me some schedule flexibility. I saw a post on Facebook for a position at this candle company, so I applied. That’s how I started working part-time at Sweet Wick Candle Company in September 2021. I began with tying charms on the candles, and then, in a few weeks, worked my way up to pouring the candles. I slowly started to learn other aspects of the business and really started to love it.
When the business became available, I felt that it was a great opportunity to purchase it and continue providing quality soy candles.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been an interesting journey. There have been some minor struggles with learning all the other aspects of the business, but overall it’s been a wonderful experience.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
After I graduated high school I enlisted in the US Army and then after my term of service with the Army was completed, I went to college and enlisted in the Army National Guard. I began teaching in 2008 and left the teaching profession in December 2020.
I was known for my attention to detail and ensuring that I completed my tasks to the best of my abilities.
I am most proud of my ability to go above and beyond what is required and the high standard that I set for myself.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am always open to collaborate and share ideas. I think that is necessary for both personal and professional growth.
