Dana Bahr shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Dana, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I typically start my mornings with a quick at-home workout and caffeinated water before easing into my workday. My mornings are usually dedicated to client strategy, reviewing Pinterest analytics, planning content calendars, and creating evergreen marketing systems that keep my clients visible without constant posting. Afternoons are for my own projects, like developing new resources for The Styled Pin Collection or recording episodes for The Unapologetic Pinner podcast. I like to end my day offline—either going to the park, spending time with family, or doing something creative that has nothing to do with a screen.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Dana Bahr, a Pinterest marketing strategist and educator for wedding professionals and creative entrepreneurs. Through my business, Dana’s Desk, I help service-based business owners simplify their marketing, grow their visibility, and attract dream clients using Pinterest. It’s the only platform that works for you long after you log off.
My approach is rooted in The VEIL Method, my proprietary framework that helps creatives build Visibility, design Evergreen systems, create Intentional content, and convert that visibility into Leads. Unlike fast-paced social platforms, I focus on sustainable marketing strategies that grow quietly in the background, giving business owners back their time and peace of mind.
Right now, I’m most excited about expanding The Styled Pin Collection, my monthly Pinterest template membership that makes designing strategic, on-brand pin graphics effortless for wedding pros and creatives. My mission is to prove that marketing doesn’t have to feel like a full-time job, you just need the right systems and a strategy built to last.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a wild child, fiercely independent, endlessly curious, and always chasing new ideas. I loved creating just for the sake of it, without worrying about the “right way” to do things. Somewhere along the way, I tried to fit into what the world expected, structured, polished, predictable, but that creative, independent spirit never really left. It’s the same part of me that built my business and drives how I help others today—to remind them that freedom, creativity, and authenticity can be your strategy.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
For a long time, I feared success more than failure. The idea of being in the spotlight or seen as an “expert” made me second-guess myself. I worried I’d never know enough or be polished enough to deserve that recognition. Over time, I’ve learned that expertise isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about being willing to keep showing up, keep learning, and help others from where you are. That mindset shift has allowed me to step into opportunities I used to shy away from.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies I see in the marketing world, especially in social media, is that you have to be online 24/7 to grow your business. The idea that visibility only comes from constant posting, trends, and hustle is exhausting and completely unsustainable.
The truth is that not all platforms are built the same. Pinterest was designed to work without you showing up daily. It’s a search engine, not a social feed and when used intentionally, it can drive traffic, leads, and bookings for months from a single pin. I think many entrepreneurs overlook that because we’ve been conditioned to equate “busy” with “successful.” But I’m here to remind people that sustainable marketing doesn’t have to mean burnout.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I think I’d regret not fully stepping into my purpose by sharing my story and knowledge more boldly. For so long, I’ve helped others show up confidently by following their passion and through their marketing, but I’ve kept myself a little behind the scenes. I don’t want fear or perfectionism to stop me from using my voice. If I can inspire even one creative entrepreneur to build a business that supports their life (not consumes it) then I’ve done what I’m meant to do.
