Sirena Smith’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Sirena Smith and have shared our conversation below.

Sirena , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Who are you learning from right now?
I have a 4-year-old autistic son, who teaches me something new every single day. Because he is a fearless little person, he has taught me to be brave and confident in everything I do. Trey is a loud music lover; wherever he goes, he’s always singing and dancing as if no one is watching. He reminds me to be authentically me, as if no one is watching, but most of all, he reminds me to be free.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi everyone, I’m Sirena, a flower enthusiast, jewelry-loving 30-something-year-old mom, and owner/creator of Lucky Luna. The first thing that makes Lucky Luna unique is that I use REAL flowers, plants, and sometimes even fruit and veggies to create my jewelry. From growing to drying to packing, my hands touch each flower every step of the way. Most of all, nature cannot be duplicated; therefore, each piece of jewelry is technically one of a kind and will last forever. What’s more unique than that?

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Becoming a mother has put the world in perspective for me in a great way. Every decision that I make is with my sons’ greater good in mind. There have been times when I wanted to give up on my business, but I think about how proud my son would be to see his mom not only continue but to excel at my goals. I believe in leading by example, and I want to show my child what can happen when you stick to doing something you love.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I’ve always had a huge fear of being seen; to be more specific, I have a fear of being perceived. I think that started in elementary school once I realized that people could form opinions about me that are far from the truth. This fear would stick with me throughout life and used to prevent me from making content for my business, which is a necessity for any business these days. This is something I work on every day, and the fear is still there, but now I care less about the opinions of others. The success of my business is much more important, and sometimes you have to be a little cringe to get the point across.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes! The public version of myself that I display is the same Sirena that everyone receives. I am adamant about being my true, authentic self wherever I go. So, whenever you encounter me, it’s always the real me.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
If you were to take away my name, role and possessions what would remain is my authentic self. At my core, I’m a girl’s girl that loves flowers because of their softness, a mom that loves to make her son banana pancakes, a reliable friend that loves to share (especially food), and a person determined to share nature’s beauty with the world.
