Hi Donald, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I am chasing generational wealth — not just in material success, but in creating a legacy of sustainability for those who come after me. The true joy comes from knowing that the hard work I’m doing today will build a foundation for future generations.
Right now, I’m focused on putting in the effort to establish and grow my business — to watch it rise to new heights that even I may not be able to measure. That, to me, is one of my greatest achievements.
My journey toward success is ongoing and filled with lessons, challenges, and milestones that shape my purpose. Longevity is what I seek — not just for myself, but to create opportunities for others who share the same passion and dedication I carry in my heart.
If I were to stop now, it would only be a moment in time — an event in my life that once brought excitement and fulfillment. But stopping would mean letting go of the vision I’ve worked so hard to build. That’s why I won’t stop. My commitment to seeing my company grow and thrive is what drives me forward toward lasting success.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Absolutely! I am the owner of Dynasty Image LLC. At Dynasty Image LLC, we specialize in custom apparel for both commercial and retail clients. Our mission is to transform our customers’ visions into reality through exceptional craftsmanship, service, and professionalism.
We offer a wide range of services, including embroidery, heat press, screen printing, and more—providing a complete apparel customization experience so our clients never have to look elsewhere. Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I still remember being around 12 or 13 years old in middle school when I told my mother, “I’m going to design a shoe for Nike.” My passion for art had already started to shape my dreams, and I wanted the world to see what this young teenager was capable of creating.
Driven by that vision, I sat down and designed a custom Nike Air Force 1 inspired by my favorite college team — the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Tar Heels, featuring their iconic Ram mascot. I poured everything I had into that drawing — the details, the colors, the design — it truly represented who I was and what I could do.
Once I finished, I decided to mail it directly to Nike. Honestly, I didn’t expect to hear anything back. But a few weeks later, I received a letter — not just from anyone, but from the Vice President of Design at Nike. I was ecstatic! I ran to show my mom, and she couldn’t believe it either.
They loved my concept but explained they couldn’t approve it due to licensing restrictions and the design not being patented. Even though it didn’t move forward, that moment was a turning point for me. It showed me that my creativity and skills were heading in the right direction.
If that opportunity had gone through, who knows where life would have taken me — but even then, I realized something powerful: my ideas had value. That experience lit a fire in me that still burns today and continues to fuel my passion for design, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering teaches you that nothing lasts forever. It’s a pain that never fully settles, because your mind continues to replay the moments and memories that shaped you. The memories you’ve built over the years are infinite, yet they can never truly be relived.
Through suffering, you learn growth. You learn how to face challenges head-on and allow the outcome—good or bad—to guide your next step. It teaches you how to express your emotions, even when it hurts, and reminds you that it’s okay to feel broken sometimes.
To this day, I’m still learning how to cope with the loss of a sibling. Moving forward with life knowing they’re not here to witness your journey physically, but instead watching over you spiritually, is a pain that words can hardly describe.
This experience changed me both personally and mentally. It taught me strength, patience, and faith. And even in the hardest moments, I remind myself that through faith, I am not walking alone.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
The belief I am committed to is the old-school saying: “What you put in is what you get out.” This saying is meaningful because it’s the truth. The time, effort, and energy you invest in your craft directly determine the outcome of your business. If your work effort is at the minimum, you will receive minimal results every time.
Your results reflect how you present yourself. I truly value dedication and commitment, and I believe that we each control the progress of how the company operates. You are the reflection and the face of the business—so the amount of attention and effort you give directly impacts our growth.
Work hard now, so you can enjoy the rewards later.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people understand that, above all, I was a genuine human being. I cared deeply and gave respect to everyone around me. I always worked hard, carried a competitive spirit, and did everything from the heart.
I pray that those who knew me accept me for who I was while I was here — someone with a sense of humor, a ball of light, and a fun person to be around. More importantly, I never minded sacrificing on my end to make sure others could get what they deserved. I’ve always believed that God blesses those who give selflessly, because true blessings come from strong character. That’s how I’d want to be remembered.
