Johnessa Jones shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Johnessa, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Yes. One thing I’m glad that I didn’t act fast upon is giving up. Giving up is easy to do and anyont can do it but sticking it out makes the difference. I’m very thankful for the all the support I had to get me where I am today. It’s only right that I continue to push forward despite of what life throws at me for a better life for my kids and I.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Peace and blessings! I’m Johnessa, a female barber Stylist in North Carolina. I’m always accepting new clientele. I specialize in locs, cuts, and natural styles. My clientele is basically family to me. I love them and they love me. Through the rough times and our best, we’re here for each other. I can’t help but love what I do with such great people!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
“The jack of all trades” is who I was before the world told me. Still to this day, that’s what I’m known for. I love to learn and add to my craft. No matter what it is, big or small, all accept the challenge!
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
One thing I definitely would tell my younger self is that you are only a small piece of what you truly will become. Don’t allow life to define you and always strive to bet the odds against you. Your happy place or era will not match the next which makes life’s journey so unique and unpredictable but you got this! It will all be worth it in the end!
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Generational wealth is a commitment I’m looking forward to no matter how long it takes. Rome wasn’t built over night and I’m sure the same rules apply for this.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I would say my services and our conversations would be something my clients would be miss the most.
