We recently had the chance to connect with Brittnee and Doyle Hinkle and have shared our conversation below.
Brittnee and Doyle, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: When was the last time you felt true joy?
Being up front at the John Mark McMillan and Citizens show recently! For those of you that know us, JMM has always been a huge influence to the both of us. We were very into his album, Borderland, when we first started writing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are Brittnee and Doyle- a husband and wife, indie Christian band from North Carolina. Brittnee (me) is also the Worship Leader at Journey Church in Asheboro and Doyle serves pretty much every single Sunday. Our lives are immersed in Jesus music and we love every second of getting to use our passion to point people to Him. We are currently working on new music!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
For both of us, our relationship with Jesus. We believe He gives each of us a Godly confidence to lead others with our passions and mirror His reflection.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Our first album was set to come out in 2020. We had worked so hard and were excited to play live shows- but Covid and the shut down hit. So that was a mega bummer to have your very first album release but couldn’t play any shows.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Besides Jesus and our daughters, Vanna and Vaeda, we think they would say that it matters to us to see our friends succeed and go after their passions. We want to come alongside them and support them however we can, whether in music or art, or others forms of creativity.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That people saw Jesus in us and that we inspired them to push for their full potential in their passions!
