Today we’d like to introduce you to Alice Hsu.
Hi Alice, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a certified QHHT® Level 2 practitioner, IACT hypnotherapist, ICF ACC & IAPRC life coach and the founder of Right Now Happiness Hypnosis & Coaching.
The path to becoming a healer felt like a calling since I was very young, a persistent inner voice I couldn’t ignore, though it took decades to finally answer it. The instant I immersed myself in this practice, everything felt completely natural. I quickly realized I possess a genuine gift for guiding people through deep healing work and personal transformation.
Now, my professional mission is to empower individuals to embrace self-love and create fulfilling lives. I achieve this by integrating positive psychology, the Satir Coaching Model, and hypnotherapy.
My own life journey has been a powerful teacher. Having navigated a challenging childhood, complex relationships, a period of questioning my identity, and a battle with cancer (now in remission), these experiences have instilled in me deep compassion and resilience. This lived experience fuels my passion and gives me a profound understanding of what true personal transformation requires.
Prior to this, I worked for two decades as a teacher and a professional book translator, with over two dozen published works. These careers uniquely prepared me for my current role. The precision required in translation honed my ability to interpret others’ inner worlds with accuracy and fidelity, while my time in teaching cultivated the deep empathy and patience essential for effective guidance.
Ultimately, I understand that healing requires trust, and I’m deeply grateful for the confidence my clients place in me as we work together toward inner peace, well-being, and lasting happiness.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but those struggles became the deepest foundation of my practice.
Just two days after receiving my first related certification and ready to move into the next phase of my professional life, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Everything immediately paused, and I became my very first client. Looking back, it was a blessing in disguise because I was able to practice everything I had learned on myself, confirming exactly how effective this work is. That experience deepened my confidence and commitment to a path that few people choose.
Following my chemo and surgery, and prior to starting radiology, I officially began accepting clients. Initially, all sessions were online. As I built my practice, clients began requesting in-person sessions, and I was fortunate to find and share a beautiful local studio.
However, the next big challenge arrived in July when Hurricane Chantel caused unexpected and severe flooding. Our studio was on an elevated floor with a dozen steps leading up to it, facing a large parking lot. It was hard to believe, but the water rose quickly from the nearby creek, climbed all the way up the stairs, and completely flooded our space, leaving a watermark at knee height.
As of this interview, our studio is still under reconstruction, and the project is taking much longer than anticipated. During this time, I’ve been incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received. If it weren’t for the kind people who offered their studios for me to use on a temporary basis, I wouldn’t have been able to continue serving my clients. These challenges have only reinforced my belief in the strength of connection and the resilience of the human spirit.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a certified Hypnotist and Life Coach specializing in helping clients achieve deep, lasting personal change by integrating the conscious and subconscious mind. I am known for my philosophy of ‘Embracing Wholeness.’ This isn’t about ‘fixing’ a client; it’s about leading them to the realization that they are already complete. My work helps them uncover and reconcile the parts of themselves they may have suppressed or fragmented, leading to healing, clarity, and self-acceptance.
What truly sets my practice apart is that my methods aren’t just academic—they are deeply stress-tested and proven through personal experience.
As I mentioned earlier, I myself was my first client. I applied every technique I had learned to navigate chemotherapy, surgery, and the overwhelming emotional landscape of my diagnosis. This firsthand experience gave me an unshakable confidence in the power of hypnosis and coaching and instilled an authentic empathy in my work. When I guide a client through a crisis or transition, I do so from a place of genuine, hard-won understanding.
I am most proud of my clients who step into their own power and realize their inherent strength.
On a personal level, I am proud of the resilience I’ve demonstrated in continuing to serve my community despite external challenges. Even now, as my studio undergoes reconstruction due to flood damage, I have not missed a single session. This commitment—supported by the generosity of other professionals who have offered temporary space—is the living testament to my belief in continuity and dedication to the people I serve.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are three main ways people can engage with or support my work, all of which strengthen the community we build together. The most direct way is to begin their own journey of transformation. I offer individual sessions focusing on deep, lasting shifts through coaching and hypnosis. Anyone feeling stuck, navigating a major life transition, or seeking a deeper connection to their purpose can start by visiting my website to learn more about my philosophy and book an initial consultation.
I am always looking to build relationships with holistic practitioners, therapists, and medical professionals who share a client-centered vision of healing. I welcome the opportunity to collaborate or receive referrals for clients who would benefit from coaching and hypnotherapy as a complementary tool alongside their current treatment plan. I believe true healing often requires a team approach, and I value those professional partnerships.
To support my practice, simply sharing my story and the positive impact of my work within their own networks is an invaluable form of support. This ensures that people who truly need this type of specialized therapy can find it. I am therefore deeply grateful for this opportunity provided by Voyage Magazine to reach a wider audience.
