Today we’d like to introduce you to Fitima Miller.
Hi Fitima, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From an early age, entrepreneurship was in my blood. At just six years old, I began working for my father’s martial arts company, where he taught me discipline, business fundamentals, and the power of sales. By age twelve, I launched my first venture—a neighborhood cleaning business—offering housecleaning services in my community for extra income. My father always said, “Those who know how to sell will control the wealth,” and even as a child, I was determined to become a top earner.
At nineteen, I founded Fitima’s Special Event Planning, organizing high-profile events for major corporations, universities, and hospitals. Around that same time, I enlisted in the United States Air Force, choosing service over college life. That experience deepened my leadership skills, discipline, and commitment to service—values that continue to define my entrepreneurial journey.
By twenty-three, I launched my first nonprofit, Dream of Peace, in Greensboro, NC, empowering underprivileged and foster youth through life-skills training. While supporting the nonprofit, I maintained a corporate career to fund its growth and continued sharpening my business acumen.
In 2012, I launched Native Chick Collection, an authentic clothing brand that celebrated empowerment and individuality. The line gained national attention for its standout slogan, “No side chicks in the wife club,” sparking conversations around relationships and self-worth.
By 2016, I translated my experiences into a self-published book, turning years of lessons and setbacks into teachable moments for others. That book opened doors to television appearances, magazine features, and conferences across the country, earning me recognition as one of the top business coaches and experts in the black community in the U.S.A
In 2018, after attending the PNC Power Networking Conference, a billionaire mentor challenged me to align my expertise with my personal financial goals, saying, “You have billions worth of knowledge, but you’re teaching it like a college professor.” That insight transformed my perspective.
In 2019, I founded Fitima Miller Enterprise, a consulting business that helped business owners generate income and scale successfully. That same year, my husband and I opened the first black-owned virtual reality arcade and educational facility in Greensboro, NC—one of only 89 in the world—using immersive VR experiences to teach life skills. Although the pandemic forced us to close in 2020, I refused to let that setback define me. I rebuilt with even more determination and purpose.
In 2023, I launched FM Consulting Group, expanding my mission to help entrepreneurs worldwide. Offering over 32 business services, FM Consulting Group has become known as the “Walmart of Business.” With a team of 12 specialized consultants, we deliver tailored solutions that empower business owners to streamline operations, increase revenue, and achieve measurable success. In November 2023, my husband and I embarked on a joint venture to take over King Tut, an existing hookah lounge in Charlotte, NC that had been a staple for 18 years. In this particular venture, we work with influencers, celebrities, politicians, and sports professionals collaborating to offer an all-inclusive customer experience. In October 2024, after I knew my dad would pass from a two-year-long journey from cardiac arrest and other major complications in hospice, I opened up my second non-profit called MedAid Foundation, where we focus on medicine and hygiene care for all around the globe.
Today, I work alongside major TV networks, politicians, government officials, NBA players, NFL players, reality TV stars, and many more. My journey stands as proof that with faith the size of a mustard seed, relentless resilience, and a commitment to service, anyone can build an empire that impacts generations.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No business journey is ever smooth—but that’s the beauty of it. Every challenge brings growth, and every obstacle sharpens purpose. I’ve learned that success requires a hunter’s mentality and an unshakable attitude of perseverance.
Coming from a background marked by poverty and childhood trauma, the odds were never in my favor. Many who came from the same environment didn’t make it as far, but I’ve always felt a responsibility to keep waving the flag—to be a living example that your past does not define your future.
The early structure and discipline I gained from both my martial arts upbringing and military service taught me resilience, leadership, and an unwavering “can-do” spirit. Transitioning from Air Force policing to entrepreneurship wasn’t easy, but it was driven by faith, vision, and a calling to help others build the kind of success I once only dreamed of.
In 2024, life tested me in ways I never imagined. I was diagnosed with Conn’s Syndrome, a chronic illness that caused dangerous electrolyte imbalances and required weekly lab monitoring. Managing fluctuating sodium and potassium levels, enduring constant hospital visits, and coping with the physical toll of medication left me battling exhaustion and panic attacks.
As if that weren’t enough, my family faced unimaginable challenges in 2024. My eldest daughter survived a near-fatal car accident caused by a drunk driver, my middle daughter struggled with mental health crises, and my husband broke his foot while we were opening our new lounge, King Tut, in Charlotte, NC. During all of this, I was also caring for my critically ill father as his power of attorney, supporting my brother through addiction recovery, and ultimately grieving my health as I was diagnosed with a lifelong chronic illness called Conn’s disorder. This condition landed me in the hospital weekly for months on end and continues today in 2025. I go for weekly lab drawings to make sure my potassium and sodium intake are balanced. The final bombshell hit with the loss of my greatest mentor—my father—on April 17, 2025. Darkness consumed me, and my mind went from optimistic to self-defeated/suicidal.
Yet, through every hardship, therapy, my sorotity sisters, children, and the community I lead, I continued to show up—for my family, my clients, and my purpose. The lessons learned through adversity reshaped my definition of success.
Faith, therapy, and sheer determination became my foundation. I discovered that strength isn’t about how much you can carry—it’s about how you keep moving when everything feels heavy.
Today, I see every scar as a symbol of survival and every setback as preparation for something greater. My story isn’t about perfection—it’s about perseverance, purpose, and the power of unwavering faith to turn pain into purpose.
We’ve been impressed with FM Consulting Group LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Based in High Point, North Carolina, FM Consulting Group is a comprehensive business consulting firm designed to be the “one-stop hub” for entrepreneurs and business owners looking to scale, integrate technology, streamline operations, and maximize profits.
What we do & specialize in:
We offer more than 30 distinct services, from SBA-lending support and business funding to digital branding, technology integration, operational strategy, and contract drafting.
Our team is composed of highly specialized professionals across areas such as finance, marketing, technology, operations, international business, entertainment, media, and non-profit strategy.
We deliver tailor‐made, practical solutions — not a one-size-fits-all model. We partner with clients to understand their unique business goals and design custom strategies to get them there.
What sets us apart / our differentiators:
Depth + breadth: Because we cover everything from digital branding to business financing to tech systems, we can serve as a full-service resource for business owners rather than them having to piece together multiple vendors.
Veteran-mindset of discipline & execution: Drawing from the founder’s military background and entrepreneurial journey, we bring a disciplined, high-expectation culture that expects results.
Empathy + experience: We understand what it’s like to face setbacks, to build from scratch, and to serve clients who are determined to change their trajectory. That lived experience adds credibility and connection.
Strategic realism: Our advice is grounded in what has worked for real businesses — clients share that they see systemized steps, clear next actions, and measurable outcomes. (For instance: helping a client leave their corporate job and run their own business full-time after working with us.)
