Exploring Life & Business with Alfrederick Coleman of Chef on the Go LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alfrederick Coleman.

Hi Alfrederick , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
So I started my business 4 years ago because I wanted more of a work life balance after being in the industry for 10 years now. I’m a recent graduate of the Art Institute of Raleigh Durham with my bachelors in culinary management.
I’ve worked in many different restaurants and retirement homes over that time as well as a cruise ship when I graduated culinary school. Becoming a personal chef and running my own business has been by far one of the best decisions in my life. I’ve learned so much about the business side of it as well that I didn’t know before. Also have learned a lot about clients likes and dislikes, diets. building relationships with clients and their families. I also have a very diverse clientele which is so awesome so I’m always cooking something different every day and it definitely has made me a better chef. So as I write this story I’m hoping it inspires someone to keep going even when you feel like giving up because there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been an easy road from a lot of ups and downs throughout the 4 years of running my business I’ve had alot of setbacks as well but I always persevere everyday to keep going. As a personal chef I’ve definitely seen clients come and go but as with any business it’s a part of the process alot of it was out of my control nothing of my doing just life circumstances.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Chef on the Go LLC?
So Chef on the Go LLC is a personal chef business that offers three different services such as meal prep. private events, and cooing classes. I specialize Italian cuisine, American comfort foods, and healthy eating. However, I do dip and dive into many different cuisines and dishes so not limited to just the three I named. I think what sets me apart from the average personal chefs is that I really take the time to not only cook good food for my clients but really build the relationship with them and their families because the food is one of the main reasons you’re their but it’s not as nearly as important as the care and value you bring to the client that’s what really matters the time you give them back. Also If I make a mistake I try my best to correct it I always want my clients to know that they matter and that their questions and concerns are always taking into consideration. What I’m most proud of as a brand is that I get to cook delicious food for my clients and really change their lives in a positive way. I really want people to know here at Chef on the Go LLC you will always be taken very seriously when it comes to what you want out of the service your inquiring about and also my goal is for you to stay with Chef on the Go for years to come as my goal is to provide excellent service for my future clients.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
As far as where I see the personal chef industry going in the next 5-10 years I see it going stronger than ever. In the past people knew somewhat of what a personal chef was but not like it is today. Since many people have very busy lifestyles and demanding work schedules they’re finding it hard to cook for themselves as well as their families. So that’s why people are hiring personal chefs more now than ever. The demand for personal chefs are at a all time high now and it’s just going to keep increasing for the years to come.
