Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Brummitt.
Hi Jasmine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins in 2019. I was stationed in San Antonio, Texas, with my husband-who is still active duty-and our two kids children. This is the year my mental and physical health began to take a turn for the worse. I remember it like it was yesterday. My mind felt cluttered with thoughts, and my feelings felt like a shaken-up soda bottle, ready to explode. Due to the severity of my mental health I was placed in a psychiatric ward and was later medically discharged out of the Army.
In 2020, two months after my discharge I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, borderline personality disorder, bipolar 2, major depression, and generalized anxiety. I had moments where I was rapid cycling, swinging between very high “highs” and very low “lows”, with an unbearable emptiness in between. As time went on, I began self-harming while battling suicidal ideation, intrusive thoughts, and hallucinations. By 2022, my family had relocated to Fort Belvior, VA, and we had welcomed a little girl in our family! But that year, the battle between my mind and body began to feel utterly defeating. I was going from doctor to doctor, getting scans, test, and diagnostics, searching for answers for the debilitating flares and chronic pain that had taken over my life. I began to grow weary, I began to feel alone, and it seemed that everything that I loved or needed was slowly fading due to my mental and physical health.
One night, while I was up battling suicidal ideation and the urge to self-harm, I got on my knees and cried out to Jesus for help. My faith, alongside my love for my children felt like the only thing keeping me here. My faith felt like that last ditch effort after feeling so exhausted from trying to “fix” and “heal” myself on my own. So, going to Jesus felt as though I surrendered it all to Him. I remember finishing my prayer with a knowing that things would be different and that things were going to change. I didn’t know how or why. I just knew…Afterwards, it seemed like everything began to align in my life mentally. I was no longer fighting for therapist and psychiatrist to hear me. I received all that I needed from therapy and group sessions to the right medication.
As I began to heal and grow closer to God, I kept feeling a need to speak, a calling to share my story. It was so strong to the point it eventually led me to share it with my husband which led me to starting my business “Jasmine’s Butterfly and Coaching LLC”. It started off as a podcast, but my faith ultimately led me to Peer Support and Integrative Health Coaching. Along my journey, I discovered a deep desire to help others battling mental health challenges, chronic pain, and stress. This desire comes from a place of understanding, empathy, and compassion knowing exactly how dark these paths can be. I also know that despite the darkness there is hope. There’s hope in recovery, in finding balance, and in living a life of joy and peace with chronic pain.
Jasmine’s Butterfly and Coaching LLC is a space that offers empathy, love, respect, and compassion rooted in faith. It provides support and holistic alternatives for coping. My mission is to meet peers and clients where they are, to facilitate change by cultivating an environment rooted in faith, empathy, and respect, in order to foster balance through stress, mental health challenges, and chronic pain.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been smooth. There’s been a lot of ups and downs. Especially now that I’ve shifted from a new age spiritual practice to a faith-based practice. However, the vision has been clear and God told me that this race isn’t a run or a sprint. It’s meant to be slow and steady. So knowing that has helped me to not give up, but to keep going in every season.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Jasmine’s Butterfly and Coaching ?
Jasmine’s Butterfly and Coaching LLC is a faith-based Peer Support and Integrative Health Coaching practice. As a Peer Support Specialist and Coach, I support individuals who are battling mental health, chronic pain, and stress through the use of evidence based holistic approaches. Tools that I use include bible verses, journal prompts, self-assessments, mental health tools, and natural alternatives such as herbs, tinctures, teas, and supplements to support whole-person health and wellbeing.
What I am most proud of is what my brand stands for and it’s that recovery is possible for people who battle mental illness and peace and joy can be sustained despite chronic pain.
The service I provide is one-on-one integrative coaching sessions. A client’s journey begins with a free complimentary consultation. This is a no pressure conversation for me and clients to discuss what brings them to coaching, how coaching may be beneficial to them, and to share who I am as a coach. This ensures we are a good fit before moving forward.
Integrative coaching sessions are rooted in my inner garden framework. This framework is a reflective model that uses garden imagery to help individuals explore and nurture different aspects of their inner life. The packet will also consist of a wheel of well-being which provides you with a reflective and goal setting assessment towards mental, emotional, and physical health as well as environment, friends/family, recreation, and faith. From this framework we will work together to set action steps towards desired goals for recovery and wellbeing. As well as help clients to cultivate inner peace and balance despite challenges and circumstances found in mental health, chronic pain, and the ebbs and flow of life. To book a personal integrative-wellness session individuals can fly over to my website jasminesbutterfly.com.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory were summers when I would go to West Virginia and spend time with my cousins. Literally, the best memories come from those times! Adventures at the pool! Long walks up and down our hill! Bike rides and movies nights! The best!
