Hidden Gems: Meet Tiffany Slade of Birthing Boldly: Birth, Lactation & Women’s Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Slade.

Tiffany Slade

Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since a young child, I’ve always wanted to be a Midwife and support families. I first started assisting families in the hospital while being employed in 2011. I was primarily on Mother/Baby and Central Nursery but floated to L&D, Peds and Women’s Unit. In 2015, I started working with the local Health Dept. as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor before becoming an IBCLC. I formally took my Doula training in 2019 and started Birthing Boldly in 2020 and finished Midwifery School in 2023. I have now incorporated my love for nourishing families and gardening, starting a farm growing herbs promoting wellness for the entire family.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like many journeys you have some hills and curves but persistence is key. One of the challenges is shifting your mindset from employee to business owner especially in the beginning. Also, learning how to navigate being the owner but also providing the bulk of care until you’re established to hire help.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Birthing Boldly was established in 2020 to serve families from fertility through postpartum. We provide maternal infant conceirge care which also includes lactation, full spectrum doula care and perinatal education among other services.

I’m most proud in how we care for families. We provide non judgmental, cultural competent compassionate care to the entire family. We meet families where they are and make sure they thrive during this sacred time. We are also one of the first to have a line of wellness supplements grown on our farm that is curated by a Medical Professional for women and men.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
First and foremost is God, none of this would be possible without his grace and mercy. My family is my biggest supporters and have sacrificed through this journey of long days and nights while I support families. My team is awesome! Team work definitely makes the dream work and they help make this possible with supporting families and the day to day task. Khristin one of my amazing lead doulas and my awesome assistant/doula Lashanda are the best. I believe we all need Mentors. I was fortunate to have an awesome Midwife for my own births, who is now my Midwife Mentor-Marcia! Midwives really become apart of the family. Additionally, I learned from other great midwives that poured into me during my school years while learning Midwifery-Adiah and Sakina who are amazing Midwives.
