Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg O’Donnell.
Hi Meg, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got my start as a captive insurance agent during my husband’s transition out of the military and moving back to my home state on the west coast. During covid, I felt inspired to make a change. After years of seeing people struggle with insurance, fighting against billion dollar companies, I felt the push to open an insurance agency to cater to the consumer and become an advocate for all of us!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It certainly hasn’t been smooth, but I have been blessed. Being truly independent as an insurance broker comes with challenges, like handling the revolving door of industry changes, carrier changes, and changes in the lives of the clients we serve. Moving to a new city like Raleigh during the pandemic where I didn’t know a sole to open a business lead to a slow start, lots of nerves, and little community support. I had to get out there and make my own community.
We’ve been impressed with Meg’s Best Insurance, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own an independent insurance brokerage serving NC & NY for any personal, commercial, life or disability insurance needs. We offer quotes from over 150 insurance carriers, concierge claims service, and an annual re-shop program. Meg’s Best Insurance is proud to be both Woman owned and Veteran owned, keeping this a family business so our clients will always know who they can talk to.
