Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Urbano Vondrachek.
Hi Ashley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I’m Ashley and your Pups plus one! I always loved dogs and weddings! They were my two passions for as long as I can remember. I was working in a tech career for a decade and I truly was unhappy. After my soul dog, Ellie, passed away..I finally found it in me to leave that career and start this business. We launched in December of 2023 and we’ve served countless couples ever since! It’s been so special doing this in her honor. She wasn’t able to be in my own wedding, so every wedding I’m involved in is like my own little celebration of her life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think figuring out my path was such a battle. We all want to be happy with our work, but I wasn’t for so long.
Figuring out how to start a business and get the foundational pieces in place was of course challenging. Now that that’s done, we are in full growth mode.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Dogs Like Ash?
We are Raleigh’s first wedding day pet concierge company! We help couples include their closest companions, their pets, on their wedding day. The work is very bespoke, but essentially we are the pets plus one. We handle their every need. From working with the planning team on timeline, the photography and videography team getting the best shots, styling them, taking content of their day etc. We even walk them down the aisle and hang in the suites with them! We pick them up, drop them off, and do overnights and daycare as well. We are a team of currently 4 handlers. Each with robust pet care capabilities and experience. We do this work because we find true joy in helping couples include their pet on your wedding day!
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Go to every industry event you’re invited to! Don’t treat others in the space as competitors, treat them as collaborators. Always put your best foot forward and other vendors will notice your dedication and professionalism. Seek out others who have successfully grown the business you are in and ask them for time to consult on your business!
