Today we’d like to introduce you to John Bridgers.
Hi John, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The Cloth Barn started in 1956 with Lillian Bridgers (my grandmother) with a focus on bridal and dress fabrics with some quilting and home decor fabrics. Over those years our concentration has led to drapery and upholstery and doing lots of custom drapery, bedding and upholstery all over the east coast. My father and mother both worked here and have recently retired. We have been through two major floods loosing everything in our inventory and have built back and come back with more and more selection everytime. We cover charlotte to atlantic beach and roanoke rapids down to myrtle beach and all areas in between. We have over 20,000 bolts of fabric in stock and also carry lots of outdoor, vinyl, headliner, foam, pillow forms, drapery hardware, custom com furniture, and more. I also do all the measuring, installing, furniture pickups and deliveries myself. I also go to homes and help hang artwork, mirrors, tv’s and anything that mounts to walls. I came back after working in the constuction industry in 2010 and have been here ever since. I love fabric and everything about it (color, texture, and design) We also do lots of shades (fabric romans, woven woods, rollers) and also blinds and shutters. pretty much anything for window covering we do. Also we do lots of custom bedding projects (custom dust ruffles, bedspreads and coverlets, headboards, sideboards and footboards, pillows and shams) We love what we do!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
