Today we’d like to introduce you to Deanna Holt.
Hi Deanna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my career in healthcare in 2005 as a CNA, which gave me a strong foundation in bedside care and patient compassion. I advanced my education steadily, becoming an LPN in 2006, earning my ADN in 2009, and then my BSN in 2011. In 2013, I joined the Army, which strengthened my leadership, discipline, and ability to perform under pressure. I went on to complete graduate school and became a CRNA in 2016.
In 2020, I opened my first business, Skin Specialists of Fayetteville, and in 2024 I expanded into education by opening Skin Specialists School of Esthetics. Altogether, my path reflects continuous growth, a strong clinical foundation, military leadership experience, and an entrepreneurial drive to build patient-centered and education-focused businesses.
This year, I began my MBA to deepen my business and leadership skills.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely—there were definitely struggles along the way. For part of my journey, I was a single parent, balancing school, work, and raising my child, which required a lot of sacrifice and time management. I also navigated major life changes, including marriage and divorce, all while continuing to move forward professionally. Opening my business during the COVID era added another layer of challenge—uncertainty, constantly changing guidelines, and the pressure of protecting both patients and staff. At the same time, I was still working full time at the hospital, so I had to learn, often in real time, how to successfully manage and grow a business while maintaining my responsibilities as a CRNA. Those experiences taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to lead under pressure.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Skin Specialists of Fayetteville is a medical spa I opened in 2020 that combines advanced aesthetic medicine with a strong focus on skin health and education. We offer a full range of services, including medical-grade skincare treatments, chemical peels, laser services, injectables, and customized facial treatments. As a CRNA and practice owner, my goal with the spa is to provide safe, evidence-based treatments in a welcoming environment where patients feel heard, educated, and empowered about their skin and overall confidence.
In 2024, I expanded into education and opened Skin Specialists School of Esthetics, a state-licensed esthetics program designed to bridge the gap between basic training and real-world success. The school focuses not only on teaching foundational esthetic skills, but also on professionalism, business basics, marketing, and advanced treatment concepts so graduates are truly job-ready. We keep classes small, offer hands-on clinical experience, and emphasize building confidence, critical thinking, and strong client relationships to help students thrive whether they go into employment, suites, or entrepreneurship.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is playing travel volleyball with the same girls I played school ball with. We spent so many weekends on the road together—practicing, competing, and just laughing in between games. Those experiences taught me a lot about teamwork, commitment, and building close relationships, and they’re still some of the happiest, most formative memories I have.
