We recently had the chance to connect with Erica Sizemore and have shared our conversation below.
Erica, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Every morning I’m up around 5 AM, when the house is still quiet. I grab a cup of coffee, settle into a cozy corner, and use that uninterrupted time to review messages and send out a few notes to set the day in motion. By 6 AM, I’m at the gym for a HIIT class, which gives me the energy and focus I need to take on whatever the day brings.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
As owner and broker of Sizemore Residential, I lead a boutique real estate team based in Raleigh and serving the Triangle. We’re known for pairing strategic guidance with a highly personalized client experience—blending market analytics, thoughtful presentation, and an appreciation for architecture to help clients make decisions that support both their lifestyle and long-term financial goals.
With a background in finance and marketing, my approach is more advisory than transactional, rooted in data, storytelling, and elevating how homes are positioned in a fast-growing market. Current efforts focus on expanding our modern and luxury home services and continuing to refine a client experience built around strategy, authenticity, and excellence.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents taught me the most about work. They modeled what it means to put in extraordinary effort and to do things in a way you can be proud of. Both worked full-time, took great care in creating a home they loved, and expected my sister and me to contribute—whether through chores, household projects, or getting early work experience as teenagers. We grew up watching them not only show up for their jobs, but also serve the community, which shaped my understanding that meaningful work is about commitment, integrity, and giving back.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to trust my own value and honor the contribution I was capable of making. Let go of the insecurity and step into the self-esteem and grace we all deserve. When you believe in yourself, you give yourself permission to take on bigger challenges and rise to your potential. Today’s young people face even more pressure—especially with the noise of social media—and that steady stream of comparison can chip away at confidence. I’d remind my younger self, and anyone beginning their journey, that real momentum starts when you believe you belong in the rooms you’re walking into.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. A friend once told me in my twenties that I was one of the few people they knew who didn’t shift between my personal and professional self. That comment has always stayed with me. Authenticity is something I genuinely value—not because I’m trying to project it, but because I honestly don’t know how to be anything else. As my confidence and self-esteem grew over the years, I began to lean into that quality even more. What I discovered is that authenticity isn’t just comfortable—it’s powerful. It allows me to show up fully, connect more meaningfully, and accomplish far more than I ever could by trying to fit into someone else’s version of who I should be.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I need to stop letting work pull me away from being fully present with my family and friends. It’s something I’m aware of and continually working on, but I haven’t mastered it yet. I genuinely love what I do and care deeply about the clients we serve, which sometimes means I let other moments slip by. The upside is that I’m surrounded by a wonderful personal and professional network who make it easy to give my time and energy—but I’m learning to protect space for the people who matter most.
