Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaime Pike LMBT.
Hi Jaime, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I discovered my path to help others through therapeutic massage, by dealing with my own personal muscular pain, perpetuated by skeletal misalignment. Through therapeutic massage I found relief from my condition that other therapies had not given relief to. Through out the years I have continued to manage my condition through deep tissue massage and bodywork. I was so blown away by my own experience that I transitioned my entire career and now I am a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist that concentrates on Ashiatsu Bodywork. I love helping others with their personal goals from relaxation to getting back to doing what they love most through personalized bodywork.
I specialize in Ashiatsu Deep Tissue, Ashi/Thai, Trigger Point, Cupping + Relaxation. I focus on the body as a whole and I tailor each session to meet the immediate need of the person in front of me. I truly believe that this is my calling, to make a positive change in lives of others. They are seen and heard here in my studio.
Through the support of my family and the community, I am where I am today. I am so very blessed and thankful for my clients who trust me and support our small town business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course there are always hurdles and hoops to jump through in any business ownership, but I believe it’s how you push through the adversity, hardship and struggles that show us what we are made of, never wavering from your core purpose. The Lord never promises there will not be hardships, but we do know that all things work together for His glory, for those who know and love Him. Romans 8:28
As you know, we’re big fans of Body Balance Therapeutic Massage LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My entire career, prior to being a LMBT, I have worked in an office setting. My natural instinct is to help others and I remember countless times I would get reprimanded for helping employees who were struggling with their work load or a project that I would have knowledge of. “I was just trying to help” I recall to memory, but I always thought, “wouldn’t it be nice if I could help people without getting fussed at?”
During COVID my company had a “Buy-Out”, basically they would pay large lump sums for employees to leave their position to, in turn lower overhead in the months to come. After weighing all the pros and cons, I decided that it was a perfect time to branch out and explore a new career path. The lump sum, paid off some debt, paid for my education as a massage therapist and it was enough to supplement income while I was earning my education.
After completing my education, I launched straight out of college into my own business, with my background in business management this seemed like the only logical “next move” for my career and I am so glad that I did. Since June 2021, I have been enjoying growing and building a community of people who truly value bodywork.
My work is not the traditional massage that most think about when they think “massage”. I started out with the traditional modality of using my hands for massage but within 6 months, my body was breaking, my arms, back, neck, hands.. they all hurt. I knew I had to pivot in order to serve the community and keep my body in top shape. Did you know that most massage therapist leave the profession between 3-8 years due to body strain, burn out and injury? I did not want that to be me. I studied and searched, and found a specific massage therapy modality that is called Ashiatsu, then, I found someone who practiced this and set up and appointment to receive this work. I knew immediately after receiving this bodywork, that this was my next educational step.
A few months later I went back to school and have pushed myself to learn Ashiatsu and I have never stopped, since starting I can not learn enough about Shiatsu, Sho-shin Shiatsu, Ashi-Thai… the education is endless.
Ashiatsu, the form that I practice is performed by a client laying on a table in traditional draping, I have bars suspended from the ceiling to give me stability and I use one, or two footed pressure to melt away tension with each pass, loosen fascia, stretch and give better mobility. There’s a small number of people that receive true two footed work. There is a common misconception that I “walk” on people, because that is the easiest way to explain for some, but this is not true, it is a strategic flow that is customized for each client. Curious about more? I have a video on my website that people can see to get a better idea of my work and, folks can check out my google reviews too.
What are your plans for the future?
I do have plans for the future, currently we are looking to add Bloom Therapeutics joining in the Summer of 2026. They will be offering counseling and therapy for all ages and genders in the evening hours at the studio.
I love to make wellness connections, if you are in the wellness field, I’d love to connect as we are making plans in the future, maybe you are our next partner?
We have other plans as well, but those are a working progress, if you do not already follow us on Facebook, that is the best way to keep up to date on progress.
