Check Out Todd Golbus’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Golbus.

Hi Todd, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I came out of corporate America – about 20 years as an executive in some of the largest companies (GE, Amerisource Bergen, Fiserv, Bank of America, Nielsen). when out youngest was going off to school (older one went to UNC-Chapel Hill, and the younger to NC State) we deduced to start our own company. we started a sign company from scratch – I just wanted a good B to B business, and my wife liked the creative side of signs.
We jumped in – Feb of 2020 right before we heard about Covid. The growth has been great, since we stared (or manufacturing office is in Charlotte NC) we have opened additional locations across NC and SC . We are up to 22 employees.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in the sign industry is smooth…..every job is a unique custom project – almost like a work or art. Each project has its unique special challenges, and all of them have unforeseen complications due to the unique nature.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In the sign industry – we focus on the larger projects. Being one of just a handful of companies that have our capabilities (UL certified, Electrical license, multiple crane and bucket trucks) we can take on the jobs that many other sign companies can’t do. From permitting to custom fabrication to difficult or very high installs we take care of all of it.
Most other sign companies have to out source their fabrication, or install, or sometimes all of it. W do a lot of work for other sign companies in the area.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Managing stress, taking care of our employees, being a good corporate citizen and giving back to the community.

Pricing:

  • Not really – signs tend to be more expensive than most people think do to the custom nature, the regulations and the care that goes into a project.
