Rachel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Our story started with a dream—two hearts and two minds coming together. My husband always dreamed of opening his own bar, while I was a bit nervous after spending my entire career in corporate America. We prayed, fasted, and took a leap of faith. That leap turned into a blessing for our family and our community. What began as a dream has grown into a popular downtown bar—something our city truly needed: something new, something welcoming, something for everyone.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It wasn’t always a smooth road. We faced many challenges while opening and even after opening. Our family experienced a situation that changed the dynamic of what we once believed our world would look like. Through it all, we stayed focused and leaned on the support of our family, friends, and community. With God as our leader, all things are possible. No matter the weight of the world, we never gave up—and even in the face of challenges and naysayers, we are thriving.
We’ve been impressed with Spotlight Bar & Lounge , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Spotlight Bar & Lounge was built on love, one dream, and two hearts. We strive to provide exceptional drinks and a positive, unforgettable customer service experience. With a live DJ nightly and a variety of food truck options, Spotlight Bar & Lounge offers an experience that’s truly out of this world.
How do you think about luck?
We wouldn’t say luck has played a role in our journey. Instead, trusting in God and the power of a praying family have been the foundation of our success. As we approach our one-year anniversary, we know our greatest “lucky charm” has always been God.
