After years of working in skincare and waxing, we kept hearing the same thing from friends and clients: “Why can’t great waxing, skincare treatments be painless and personalized?” That question stuck with us. We wanted to create a place in Raleigh where people didn’t dread self-care, where getting a Brazilian wax or a custom skincare treatment felt empowering instead of intimidating. So we took that passion for skin confidence and genuine service, combined our experience, and opened Oak City Skin & Wax to give people real results, tailored treatments, and a spa experience that feels warm, welcoming, and effective from the moment you walk in. Our mission from day one has been all about helping clients feel smooth, glowing, and truly cared for.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting from scratch with no clients, no shortcuts, and a whole lot of faith wasn’t easy. There were slow days, long nights, and moments where we had to remind ourselves why we started. But from day one, our partnership has been the steady constant. Whitney and I balance each other in a way that just works. Different strengths, the same vision, total trust. Building Oak City Skin & Wax into the booming Raleigh spa it is today came from showing up for our clients and for each other. That partnership has always felt like a match made in heaven, and it’s the reason we were able to grow something meaningful, sustainable, and rooted in care.

Our custom facials are built in real time, adjusting techniques and products for maximum results, not trends. Our painless Brazilian waxing comes from years of refining our method so clients feel comfortable, confident, and cared for. And becoming the leading spa in our area for DPN removal wasn’t accidental, it came from precision, continued education, and a genuine love for helping clients feel at home in their skin. What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I really see our industry growing into something even more thoughtful and empowered. People are becoming way more knowledgeable about skincare, self-care, and the real impact that good treatments can have on confidence and quality of life. Self-care is no longer a luxury — it’s understood as essential. That shift means clients want education just as much as results. They want to know why a treatment works, how it fits into their bigger wellness goals, and what the safest, most effective path forward looks like for their unique skin. We’re totally here for that.
