Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Williams.
Hi Jessica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey in Property Management started last year, believe it or not. I previously worked for a storage company where I had the title of a Lead Customer Accounts Specialist. It was great, but I wanted something where I had the option to progress and move up within a company. That is when I found VRG. Almost a year later and I am still just as happy as I was on my first day! I get to assist customers with finding a luxury apartment that meets their needs and is affordable. Being that I have a passion for helping others, I get to do that with being a Property Manager. My experience with Property Management has led to curiosity about Real Estate. After taking the required classes and tests, I have obtained my Real Estate License for NC which is allowing me to experience that side of things in my spare time outside of being a Property Manager. I absolutely love coming to work and being able to not only be there for my current residents, but to also have the opportunity to meet new customers and build relationships with them as well as I wow them with the apartment that they have been searching for. Growing up my grandmother always told me to find a career where getting up/showing up for work daily was not a task, but something I enjoyed. I can honestly say that I have found that career and I do not have any regrets.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is there ever a smooth road, lol? There were many learning curves when I started with Property Management as I had no experience with renting apartments. My leadership was spot on and was very patient as I navigated through those learning curves and mastered them. I do not recall any real struggle that I had along the way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am currently the Property Manager for Carlson Bay Apartments in Fayetteville, NC. My responsibility is to ensure that my residents are happy and their needs met. I am also responsible for leasing new apartments to new customers based on qualifications. I am known for the Property Manager with the tattoos, lol. I have found that my artwork is a conversation starter with 90% of the people I meet at work. What am I most proud of? I am most proud of the professional growth over the last few years. The thing that sets me apart from others, in my opinion, would be my level of determination and the confidence that I have that there is nothing I cannot do. I am very determined to succeed in anything that I do, and I teach my children to be that exact same way. I would have never been able to get to where I am in life without being determined and unafraid to do things that may seen foreign or complex to me.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Never give up. Anyone can achieve anything that they want to but they have to be dedicated and determined. Always speak positive things and allow the negative to float away like the waves in the ocean.
