Today we’d like to introduce you to James Reid.
Hi James, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Professionally I go by DJ Tech Rich. I’ve been DJing for about 8 years now. I originally picked it up as a hobby, but the more I practiced, the better I became and was able to transition it into a career. Tech Rich Productions was developed in 2017, which mainly focuses on producing sound and lighting for private events, sporting events, corporate functions, school functions, and weddings. I’ve also, though the course of my career been fortunate enough to be able to DJ some high profile events such as the Super Bowl (2024-2026), NCAA Men’s Final Four (2022-2024), NFL Draft (2024-2025), and the NHL All-Star Party (2023). I also produce a daily mix for a FM radio station 97.5 WRRF out of Tobyhanna, PA. DJing is my passion and I really do put my heart and soul into my craft!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
DJing has been a journey. Starting from a place where I really knew nothing, I had to self teach and practice to even learn the ropes. I think that dedication though is really a big part of why I’ve been able to be so successful. I got in to weddings during covid – at the time I actually had a residency and I got an email while playing that the residency would be ending due to covid. I was initially pretty down, but one of the other resident DJ’s recognized my skill and offered to show me the wedding ropes. In 2021 I was able to transition into more private events. I truly believe there is a silver lining in everything – sometimes you just have to search a little harder to find it!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
First and foremost, I’m a DJ and I love music – I love creating with it and blending it together. Taking two different pieces of music and making them one. I’m known for my consistency and creativity when I DJ. I can really embody whatever environment I’m in and excel within that. I’ve had the privilege to DJ at the NFL’s Official Pregame Hospitality parties the last three Super Bowls through On Location, the NFL’s Official Hospitality Partner, which is based in Raleigh. At the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans, I was able to embody the environment through music so much so that the locals assumed I was from the area. That was one of the biggest compliments I’ve ever received. I really do take in the environment and the people of wherever I perform at.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I think one book that really opened my mind in the journey to reaching my self potential is The Alchemist. This book really changed my perspective on things that are truly important, and how you can achieve success if focused.
