Hi Roshaun, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Introducing Mr. Don’s Famous Chicken and Ribs, a premier food truck in Durham, North Carolina, owned by Mr. Donald E. Brown Sr. and Ms. Roshaun A. Williams.
Our mouthwatering menu features an irresistible selection of BBQ chicken, BBQ ribs, seafood and homemade sides all crafted to perfection. Donald and Roshaun, both born and raised in Durham, NC.
Donald E. Brown Sr. has always had a passion for cooking. Seeing the joy on the faces of family and friends as they savored the flavors of his dishes at gatherings, sparked a desire in him to share his culinary talents with a wider audience.
Donald’s introduction to cooking came through his parents and elders. who generously shared their knowledge and the rich culinary traditions of their community, setting him on a journey of discovery and growth.
With each new recipe, he mastered the art of balancing exquisite spices, selecting the highest-quality ingredients, and crafting delectable sauces that brought joy to those who tasted them. This foundation not only taught him the technical skills but also instilled a love for cooking. Donald reflects that his cooking adventures began with outdoor grills and eventually led him to purchase a pig cooker, which has hosted countless family gatherings and memorable events.
Donald embarked on his food truck venture between 2014 and 2015, seeking the perfect food truck to align with his vision, and successfully identified a suitable business for acquisition. Regrettably, a serious health issue arose, forcing him to suspend his plans and ultimately relinquish the desired food trailer. Following his recovery, Donald’s partner of many years devised a strategic plan to facilitate the realization of his food truck aspirations, attributing their perseverance to their faith, with GOD all things are possible, if you believe. After regaining his health, the duo proceeded to launch the food truck project, with them securing the services of a builder, and successful launched in August 2023, and are on a mission to share their incredible flavors with everyone!
