Today we’d like to introduce you to Nandni Patel.
Hi Nandni, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve had a deep love for art and the intricate beauty of henna. I remember the excitement of first picking up a cone and practicing on my own hands, watching the patterns come to life on my skin. Once I grew more confident, I began practicing on my family, spending hours perfecting every curve and line on their palms. To gain more experience, I started offering my henna to others for free, just happy to share my art and see people smile. Those humble beginnings and all that practice slowly turned my childhood passion into the business I am so proud to run today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. In the beginning, my biggest struggle was hand cramps and the physical toll of sitting in awkward positions for hours. I also really grappled with self-doubt, wondering if my lines were steady enough or if my designs were professional enough yet. Then there was the challenge of sourcing the right henna, learning the hard way which pastes gave a deep stain and which ones were difficult to work with. Even finding my first paying customers was a hurdle, as it took a lot of patience to transition from being “the girl who does it for free” to a respected business owner.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a henna artist who specializes in intricate, custom designed patterns that blend traditional motifs with modern flair. I am best known for my steady linework and the beautiful stain.
I am most proud of the journey I took to get here, from practicing on my own hands as a child to building a professional business fueled by passion. What sets me apart is my focus on the personal connection, I don’t just apply a design, I create a unique piece of art that reflects the individual story and spirit of every client I meet.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a total whirlwind, chaotic, sassy, and always marching to the beat of my own drum. While other kids might have followed the rules, I was busy finding the most “me” way to do things, which usually meant making them fun, creative, and a little bit weird. Whether I was covered in art supplies or cracking a joke, I never wanted to be ordinary, I just wanted to create something that made people look twice.
